The second weekend of the 2026 Miata Canada Cup was held at Shannonville Motorsport Park during the SMP Cup. Saturday's activities were staged on the Pro Layout, while Sunday's races were contested on the Long Track.

On the opening lap of Sunday morning’s race, there was contact in corner one, which eliminated Andrew Caruso and led to the disqualification of Geoff Johnson for his involvement in the incident. Officials decided to restart the contest with competitors in their original grid position. Fourteen Miata Canada Cup drivers enter Shannonville’s final corner for the second attempt at a start. On the front row are the pole-sitter, Ryder Brown, and Owen Clarke.
After the first weekend of the 2026 Miata Canada Cup, Ryder Brown was sixth in the standings. He corrected that situation at Shannonville Motorsport Park. Brown qualified second for race one in the No. 86 CSN Collision Mazda Miata but passed Owen Clarke on the final lap for the win. The next morning, he started on the pole but had to battle with Clarke for the victory. In the finale, Brown collected another first-place result and moved to third in the points chase.
The 2024 series champion, Owen Clarke, is always a threat to win. He opened the Shannonville weekend by putting the No. 36 Red Green Racing Mazda Miata on the pole. During race one, Clarke came under pressure from Ryder Brown and lost the lead on the final lap. Sunday morning, he was gridded second and moved into first before losing the position and finishing second. In the final event, Clarke claimed another runner-up result, but his consistency after six rounds gives him the points lead.
The start of the weekend’s final contest and fifteen Miata Canada Cup competitors charge into Shannonville Motorsport Park’s first turn. Getting a jump on the field is Ryder Brown in the No. 86 CSN Collision Mazda Miata. Behind Brown is the No. 25 Mazda Miata driven by George Griffiths and Kurt Langeveldt in the No. 17 Can-Saf Auto Repairs Mazda Miata. Chasing the leaders is the other front row starter, Owen Clarke, driving the No. 36 Red Green Racing Mazda Miata.
George Griffiths collected an eleventh and a pair of tenth-place results in the first three races of the season at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Shannonville gave Griffiths an opportunity to redeem himself. He drove the No. 25 Team Red Green Mazda Miata and qualified fourth for Saturday’s contest and finished third when Shawn Shuiskiy had an issue. In the second race of the weekend, Griffiths started and finished third. Contact in the finale dropped him to a sixth-place result.
Touring Car veteran Kurt Langeveldt began his 2026 campaign with two fourth-place results and a fifth. The No. 17 Can-Saf Auto Repairs Mazda Miata qualified eighth Saturday morning but advanced to a fourth-place result in race one. The following day Langeveldt was gridded fifth but finished fourth. In the weekend’s final race, he avoided the incident between George Griffiths, Shawn Shuiskiy and Chad Payton to claim the third position on the podium.
On the last lap of the finale, there was an incident between the No. 25 Mazda of George Griffiths, Chad Payton, the driver of the No. 24 Miata and the No. 14 Mazda Miata of Shawn Shuiskiy. Griffiths left the scene of the crime rather quickly and finished sixth after starting third. Payton returned to the track and finished seventh. Shuiskiy, who led the standings entering the event, had a character-building weekend but only lost one position in the standings.
The top three finishers for the final contest of the weekend at Shannonville Motorsport Park. On the top step of the rostrum is the winner, Ryder Brown, who swept the event and advanced to third in the championship standings. On the left is the new points leader, Owen Clark. Clarke, who collected three runner-up finishes to lead the standings by fourteen markers. Completing the podium is the third-place finisher, Kurt Langeveldt.
