The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series was founded in 1978 by former midget racer Ted Johnson.

The 2025 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car schedule consists of 90 events, which sees teams travel to forty-one tracks in twenty-one states and one Canadian province. The season begins in Florida on February 5 at Volusia Speedway Park and concludes nine months later at The Dirt Track in Charlotte.

The tube-frame open-wheel World of Outlaws Sprint Car must weigh at least 1,425 pounds with the driver.  The cars are powered by a fuel-injected 410-cu.in. engine. All competitors must use methanol fuel. This potent combination produces over 900 horsepower. The power-to-weight ratio of a Sprint Car can exceed that of Formula 1.

Connected to the motor is an in/out direct drive gearbox that has no reverse or clutch. Attached to this unit is a quick-change rear end, which allows the team to change the gear ratio for different-sized tracks.  The cars are not equipped with a starter and require a push truck to fire the motor.

The ability to change torsion bars and adjust shock absorbers allows teams to improve the handling of Sprint Cars.

Positioned over the driver and mounted to the roll cage is a large wing and a smaller one on the front of the car. The wings produce downforce to aid the vehicle with traction down the straights and in the corners.

Thursday, May 15, was the second night of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series at Ohsweken Speedway. After qualifying and heats, successful drivers would advance to a thirty-five-lap feature around the 0.375-mile semi-banked dirt oval.

Twenty-four World of Outlaw Sprint Car competitors line up on Ohsweken Speedway's back straight for the series' second visit to Canada since 2017. On the pole is the No. 47X Miska Trailer Factory Sprint Car driven by local racer Dylan Westbrook. On the outside of Westbrook is Chris Windom in the No. 75 NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car. Occupying row two are Canadian Cory Turner, driving the No. 17X Sprint Car, and Garet Williamson in the No. 23 Sprint Car.
The World of Outlaw Sprint Car points leader, David Gravel, made it two in a row and swept the event at Ohsweken Speedway. On Thursday, Gravel started and finished first in Heat Race 3. In the Toyota Dash, which determines the A Main's starting grid for the top eight drivers, he finished fifth in the No. 2 Huset's Speedway.com Sprint Car. In the feature, Gravel charged to the front and grabbed the lead on lap 27, going unchallenged.
The No. 28M Tub O' Towels Sprint Car was piloted by Conner Morrell. Morrel started tenth the previous evening and finished twentieth. He was second to Sheldon Haudenschild in Heat Race 2 and gridded sixth for the thirty-five lap A Main. In the finale, he battled with Chris Windom for second place and eventually passed Dylan Westbrook for the lead. However, Morrell could not hold off David Gravel and finished in second place.
Ohsweken Speedway track champion Dylan Westbrook finished eleventh the previous evening. Westbrook was fast on day two. He finished second in the first heat race and went on to earn a victory in Toyota Dash, putting on the pole for the A Main. Driving the 47X Miska Trailer Factory Sprint Car, he led until a lap 13 restart. Westbrook was eventually passed by Conner Morrell and David Gravel to finish third.
Although he didn't repeat Wednesday's evening performance, Sheldon Haudenschild finished in the top five. The driver of the No. 17 NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car started and finished first in Heat Race 2. Haudenschild was gridded seventh for the Toyota Dash and finished last. He started the feature in the eighth spot but advanced during the contest. A pass on Chris Windom was rewarded with a fourth-place result.
The top three World of Outlaw Sprint Car finishers on the second night of the series stop at Ohsweken Speedway.  For a second time, David Gravel earned the top spot. This increases Gravel's total winnings in 2025 to seven. With the victories at Ohsweken, he collected a total of USD 40,000. On the left is the runner-up, Conner Morrell. This was Morrell's best result of the season. The final position belongs to local competitor Dylan Westbrook.
