The 32nd Annual APC Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough Speedway included the Super Stock division.

The Super Stock category includes a variety of North American makes and models from the ‘60s to the current year. The rules used in the class allow some suspension modifications and changes to the bodies. Some Super Stock cars retain the original steel bodies with plastic noses and fiberglass hoods; however, most use fiberglass panels. They are powered by a modified small-block engine or crate motor from General Motors and Ford. The cars weigh approximately 3,000 lbs, with 55% of the weight distributed to the left side. The division serves as a ‘stepping stone’ for those drivers who aspire to compete in the Pro Late Model category.

The starting grid for the feature was set after two heat races. The schedule initially called for four heats; however, inclement weather reduced available track time on Saturday. As all Super Stock competitors qualified for the feature, a second round of heats wasn’t necessary.

Drivers competed in a fifty-lap contest around ‘Canada’s Toughest 1/3 Mile.’

Seventeen Super Stock competitors line up on Peterborough Speedway’s front straight for the pace lap during the Autumn Colours Classic presented by B&G Towing and Recovery.   On the pole is Paul Boundy in the No. 08 Boundy Roofing Chevrolet Camaro. Next to Boundy is the No. 42 Tire Depot Chevrolet Camaro driven by Daniel Hawn. Row two is occupied by the Chevrolet Camaros of Todd Davenport and Coltin Everingham.
Dayco Super Stock Series competitor Shawn Chenoweth entered the Autumn Colours Classic fresh off a victory at Flamboro Speedway’s Frostoberfest. The driver of the No. 89C Steward’s / London Recreational Racing Chevrolet Camaro was entered in the second heat and finished third. Chenoweth lined up sixth for the feature. He made his way to the front while being pursued by the second-place starter, Daniel Hawn. Chenoweth held on for the victory.
Daniel Hawn’s focus this season has been the Can-Am Midget Series. Hawn won the 2025 championship,  making this his third consecutive title. He does not compete regularly in the No. 42 Tire Depot Chevrolet Camaro but finished third in last season’s Autumn Colours Classic. Hawn was entered in the second qualifier and won. He started second in the finale and chased Shawn Chenoweth for much of the race. Hawn finished second by a margin of 0.655 seconds.
Finishing third in the Super Stock division at this year’s Autumn Colours Classic was local favourite Marlie Owen. Owen has been conspicuous by her absence this season. She drove the No. 21 R. Brooking Tree Service / Jim’s Auto Repair Chevrolet Camaro in the first heat and finished seventh in the eight-car field. Owen was gridded thirteenth for the fifty-lap contest. She maneuvered her way through the field to cross the finish line in third place.
Lane Zardo won last year’s Super Stock race at the Autumn Colours Classic. This season, the driver of the No. 36Z Bester Forest Products Ford Mustang captured titles in the Dayco Super Stock and Steel City Rumble series. Zardo finished third in the first Super Stock heat. He started the feature in the fifth spot but was passed by Shawn Chenoweth and Marlie Owen. However, Zardo got by Paul Boundy, Todd Davenport and Coltin Everingham for a fourth-place result.
The only out-of-province competitor at this year’s Autumn Colours Classic was New Brunswick’s Kenny Mackenzie Jr. Mackenzie piloted the No. 85 Chevrolet SS sponsored by Brunswick Royal Realty. During the feature, he got an Ontario Super Stock division welcome from the No. 63 Chase Contracting Chevrolet Camaro of Cole Burrows. Burrows would go on to finish ninth, while Mackenzie was the last car on the lead lap and received the checkered flag in twelfth place.
The top three finishers for the Super Stock class at this year’s Autumn Colours Classic presented by B&G Towing and Recovery. In the center is the winner, Shawn Chenoweth. This was Chenoweth’s second big Super Stock victory in a week and one place better than his result last season. Also improving his results from last year, by one position, was Daniel Hawn, who was the runner-up. Completing the top three is local driver, Marlie Owen.
