The very popular Super Production Challenge for production vehicles debuted in 2011. It has attracted large fields as the result of affordable racing, which has, in turn, generated close competition and captured the imagination of fans.

The Super Production Challenge offers amateur drivers a semi-professional environment which Auto Sport Quebec sanctions. Most races range from thirty to forty-five minutes in length.

The 2024 season consists of five race weekends.

  • May 16-18 - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
  • June 20-22 - Atlantic Motorsport Park
  • August 9-10 - Grand-Prix de Trois-Rivieres
  • August 23-24 - Calabogie Motorsports Park
  • September 26-28 - Mont-Tremblant

The series controls costs by limiting performance and balancing the power of different vehicles using weight, rev limiters, intake manifold restrictions and adjustments to other components. Series rules allow modifications to the engine, brakes and suspensions. All cars in the series are required to compete on Nankang AR-1 tires.

Drivers score points in one of three classes - Super Production, Production or Compact.

  • Super Production - Introduced in 2019, the larger displacement vehicles with no more than 300-horsepower compete in the Super Production group. The performance of these two-wheel-drive vehicles is monitored by GPS. Models in the category must have been produced within the past fifteen years. Cars commonly found in this division include the Nissan 370Z, Scion FRS, Honda Civic Si, Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and BMW M235i.
  • Production - Performance is also monitored using GPS for vehicles competing in the Production division. They are also limited to models fifteen years of age or newer. The maximum horsepower output for these four or six-cylinder vehicles is 220. Four-cylinder engines up to two-liters may be turbocharged or supercharged. Cars often found in this class include Mini Cooper S, BMW 330i and Honda Civic Si.
  • Compact - The Compact class, introduced in 2012, is for vehicles with less the 100-horsepower. They are also monitored by GPS and subject to the same product year range requirement as the Super Production and Production categories. Included in this group are the Mini Cooper, Toyota Echo, Nissan Micra and Mazda 2.

The 2025 Super Production Challenge season kicked off during the Castrol Victoria Day Speedfest weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Drivers collected points in three races around the ten-turn 2.459-mile road course.

The start of round 3 (Sunday morning) for the 2025 Super Production Challenge presented by Nankang Tire. Leading the field of twenty-six starters is the pole-sitter, Chris Bernier, in the No. 91 Metric Homes Racing BMW 323i. Behind Bernier is the No. 5 Empire Motorsports Honda Civic Type R driven by Saturday morning’s winner, Guillaume Labbé. Beside Labbé is Brad Ranson in the No. 3 Ranson Racing Team Hyundai Genesis.
The defending Compact class champion is Frederic Bernier. Bernier competes in the No. 28 HI-FI Racing Nissan Micra Cup. Bernier was leading the category Saturday morning when a Super Production competitor knocked him off course in corner nine. He pitted for repairs and was out of the race. The Micra was fixed for the afternoon contest, and Bernier finished first. In the finale, he collected another victory and is the Compact points leader.
Guillaume Labbé is the reigning champion in the Super Production Challenge category. Labbé is sharing the No. 5 Empire Motorsports Honda Civic Type R with Gabriel Lacombe. On Saturday morning, Labbé started on the pole and went flag-to-flag for the victory. In the afternoon, Lacombe finished eighth. Labbé was back behind the wheel Sunday morning and moved from a third-place start to take the lead on lap 6 and grab the win.
Production class competitor Blake Kelley was off the pace in qualifying. Kelley recorded a time of over one second slower than the category pole-sitter, Zack Lalonde. The driver of the No. 41 Velocity Motorsports Club Honda Civic Si moved up the order in race one and collected a win. Later that afternoon, Kelley traded the lead with Lalonde but came out on top. On Sunday, he was no match for Lalonde and finished in second place.
Maïka Chamberland secured her first Compact division victory in the opening round at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Chamberland qualified behind Frederic Bernier, driving the No. 06 Chamberland Racing Honda Fit. During the race, Bernier was hit while being lapped by a competitor from the Super Challenge Production class. She inherited the lead and won. Saturday afternoon, Chamberland finished second, and in the finale, she was third.
Zack Lalonde joined the Production category this season after finishing third in the Compact class last year. In 2025, Lalonde is driving the No. 7 Fawn Group Motorsports Hyundai Veloster. He qualified on the pole for the opener and finished second to Blake Kelley. The result on Saturday afternoon was the same as it had been in the morning. On Sunday, Lalonde would redeem himself and lead all laps to win the Production class.
Peter Hanson competed in last season’s TCA category of the Sports Car Championship Canada. Unfortunately, the series has been put on hold. Hanson had to find a new place to race the No. 12 Sanders Motorsport Subaru BRZ. As luck would have it, the Subaru fit perfectly into the Production division of the Super Production Challenge. In the first three rounds of this year’s championship, Hanson earned three third-place finishes.
Former Nissan Sentra Cup front-runner Alexandre Fortin left the series to join the Super Production Challenge in 2025. This season, he drives the No. 32 Fix Auto with Xtreme Motorsports Nissan 370Z. Fortin began his campaign by qualifying fifth fastest. In the first race, he fell to twelfth place before finishing fifth. Saturday afternoon, Fortin made steady progress and grabbed the win. In the weekend’s final race, he finished second.
Veteran Touring Car competitor Jacques Gravel had a special guest driver on hand to share the No. 43 GT Racing BMW 328i. Former IndyCar competitor and current NASCAR Canada driver Alex Tagliani piloted the BMW in Sunday morning’s event. In the season open, Gravel retired after qualifying ninth. On Saturday afternoon, he started tenth and finished sixth. In the finale, Tagliani was gridded eighth and took the checker in fifth place.
