The International Super Modified Association (ISMA) was founded in 1974.

ISMA-MSS's goals were to upgrade supermodified racing with better safety conditions, offer more events, ensure sufficient purses, and aid drivers and teams. The association collaborates with track managers to make decisions and discuss ways to improve the series. This 2025 calendar consists of thirteen events contested in six States and one Canadian Province.

ISMA-MSS has recently introduced a system in which teams purchase a franchise at the beginning of the year. Each of the franchise teams may miss up to three events during the race season while being guaranteed a minimum starting purse of $1,000 at each race.

ISMA-MSS supermodifieds are the fastest short-track open-wheel race cars in the world. They weigh approximately 1,850 pounds and are powered by methanol-burning, fuel-injected, big-block race engines, which produce 800 to 900 horsepower. An ISMA-MSS supermodified can reach speeds over 130  mph.

The tube-frame chassis is equipped with an adjustable air-strut top wing to achieve high cornering speeds.

All competitors race on Hoosier tires.

Delaware became the first event of the season after the Jennerstown Speedway race was postponed and the Oswego Speedway weekend was cancelled.

Drivers would compete in one of three heat races to determine the starting line-up for the feature. The finale was a fifty-lap contest around Delaware Speedway’s half-mile semi-banked asphalt oval.

The opening round of the 2025 ISMA-MSS season at Delaware Speedway. Pacing the field is the 61 High Performance Lubricants Supermodified of Mike Ordway Jr. Starting beside Ordway is Moe Lilje driving the No. 32 Supermodified owned by Danny Soule. In row two are Kyle Edwards in the No. 11E Edwards Mower Repair sponsored Supermodified and the No. 19 Ken Ganley Buick GMC Supermodified of Trent Stephens.
Trent Stephens missed securing the 2024 championship for Steve Stout by thirty-three points. The driver of the No. 19 Ken Ganley Buick GMC Supermodified was fourth fastest in the time trials. Stephens was entered in the heat race three and finished in third place. He was gridded fourth for the feature. He passed Moe Litje early and slotted into second. By lap 11, Stephens was in front of the leader, Mike Ordway Jr. and went on to capture the season opener.
Finishing in the runner-up position at Delaware Speedway, Mike Ordway Jr. Similar to Stephens, Ordway was a championship contender last season and finished third in the points chase. At Delaware, he was quickest in the second practice session and second fastest during the time trials. Ordway finished third in the second heat.  He started on the pole and lost first place to Trent Stephens. Unable to retake the lead, he finished second.
The No. 11E Edwards Mower Repair Supermodified is piloted by Kyle Edwards. Edwards started the fifty-lap feature in the third position after finishing second in the first heat race. He lost positions to the No. 19 Supermodified, driven by Trent Stephens, and the No. 22 Supermodified of Mike McVetta early in the contest. Edwards fought back and was able to chase down and pass McVetta for the third spot. He held the position and finished in third place.
Mike McVetta owns and drives the No. 22 Trussworks Inc. / Perfection Fabricators Supermodified. McVetta got faster during each session but dropped to eighth in the qualifying session. However, he was in the second heat race and grabbed the victory. McVetta started round one of this year’s championship in the fifth position. During the race, he traded places with Kyle Edwards and eventually finished in the fourth position.
At Delaware Speedway, Tyler Shullick grabbed everyone’s attention, but it was not for his performance in the race. Driving the No. 69 Precision Welding Supermodified Shullick set a new outright lap record during the time trials of 15.383 seconds, which bettered the mark set in 2009. Schullick failed to finish his heat race after the left front suspension collapsed, which caused the car to hit the wall. With repairs made, he finished ninth in the feature.
Johnny Benson is one of the registered drivers in the ISMA-MSS series. Benson has an impressive racing resume, which includes the 1993 ASA National Tour championship and NASCAR titles in the 1995 Busch Series and 2008 Craftsman Truck Series. At Delaware Speedway, he raced the No. 74 Reeds Salvage Supermodified and finished third in the first heat. Benson was gridded eighth for the feature, but a spin resulted in a tenth-place finish.
The top three finishers for round one of the 2025 ISMA-MSS Supermodified Championship at Delaware Speedway. In the center is the winner, Trent Stephens. Stephens put on a masterful driving display and was never threatened once he grabbed the lead. Standing on the left and finishing second by a margin of 2.197 seconds is Mike Ordway Jr. The final spot is occupied by the third-place finisher, Kyle Edwards.
