The popular Mini Stock category provides new drivers with an opportunity to participate in an entry-level stock car class. Rules are written to keep costs to a minimum.

The Mini Stock division is open to any 2010 and older approved 4-cylinder automobile having an engine no larger than 2500cc. The cars may be front or rear-wheel drive. Rules prohibit convertibles, 4-wheel drives, trucks, BMW, Audi, Saab turbo, V-Tec, supercharged or rotary engines. Also, excluded are mid or rear-engine vehicles. The weight of the cars is determined by the engine displacement and cylinder head design.

The body must retain its stock appearance - no chopping, channeling or sectioning is allowed.

Safety is a major concern in this division. Mini Stocks are fitted with a roll cage, fuel cell, five-point quick-release belts (shoulder and lap), aluminum racing seat and a window net.

Some of the makes and models typically raced by competitors include the Ford Mustang, Nissan 240SX, Acura Integra, Honda Civic and Pontiac Sunfire.

The Frostoberfest Mini Stock 50 had a total purse of $8,925, with $2,025 and the much sought-after Igloo trophy going to the winner. The payout went down to twenty-fourth place, with that position receiving $200.

Twenty-four Mini Stock competitors line up for their fifty-lap contest around Flamboro Speedway's 1/3-mile semi-banked asphalt oval. On the pole is local competitor Kait Wallace in the No. 45 Jukasa Auto Styling Ford Mustang. Beside Wallace is another driver who frequents Flamboro, Mike Thomson, piloting the No. 16 Bucks by Tatra Ford Mustang. In row two is the No. 76 Nissan 240SX of Shawn Taylor and Tyler Lewis in the No. 59 Honda Civic.
Shawn Taylor, a former Flamboro Speedway Mini Stock track champion, got a late start this season, but showed he hadn't lost any of his speed. Taylor started the feature in the third position, driving the No. 76 GM Electric Nissan 240SX. He moved into the second spot before the end of the opening lap. Taylor chased the leader, Mike Thomson, until midway through the race when he grabbed the top spot and went on to collect his fourth consecutive Igloo.
Four of the top five finishers at the Frostoberfest Mini Stock race were locals. Spoiling the five-for-five outcome was Jacob Sutcliffe. Sutcliffe is a regular at Sunset Speedway and won this year's Mini Stock track championship. He competes in the No. 27 MacMillan Motorsports Ford Mustang. Sutcliffe lined up fifth for the finale. During the race, he passed Kait Wallace, Mike Thomson and Tyler Lewis to finish second by a margin of 2.748 seconds.
It has been a difficult season for Flamboro Speedway Mini Stock regular Bobby Mercer. As of late, Mercer has been plagued by mechanical issues. However, at the Frostoberfest, it appears that the problems with the No. 2 Claybar Contracting Honda Accord Station Wagon have been resolved. Mercer was gridded sixth for the feature. Early in the contest, he slotted in behind Jacob Sutcliffe. Unable to make the pass, Mercer finished in the third spot.
Mike Thomson is last year's Flamboro Speedway Mini Stock class champion. This season, he has competed at some of Ontario's other tracks in the No. 16 Bucks by Tatra Ford Mustang. Thomson started the fifty-lap feature on the outside of the front row but grabbed the lead at the drop of the Starter's flag. He held on to first place until being passed by Shawn Taylor. Thomson began losing positions during the last half of the race and finished fourth.
The top third finishers for the Mini Stock division at Flamboro Speedway's Frostoberfest event. Standing in the center is the winner, Shawn Taylor. Taylor earned $2,025 and collected his fourth Igloo in as many years. On the left is Sunset Speedway's Mini Stock champion and the runner-up, Jacob Sutcliffe. Sutcliffe put on a late race charge, but it wasn't enough to catch Taylor. Completing the top three is Bobby Mercer.
