There are nine races on the 2025 Seaton Structures Modified Series schedule.

  • Saturday, May 24 - Sunset Speedway
  • Saturday, June 7 - Sunset Speedway
  • Saturday, July 5 - Sunset Speedway
  • Saturday, July 19 - Sunset Speedway
  • Saturday, August 2 - Sunset Speedway

The cars competing in this class are purpose-built open-wheel vehicles. The Modifieds use a steel tube frame chassis, which is no less than 1-3/4-inch outside diameter with 0.095-inch wall thickness. Bodies are sheet metal, with the driver's compartment and engine bay covered. The cars may be any make or model, but they have little to no resemblance to their road-going counterparts.

The engine option selected by the car owner determines the vehicle's weight. A Modified 350-horsepower Crate Engine is the lightest at 2,600 pounds, and a car powered by a Built Motor requires 2,775 pounds. Weight may be added or removed depending on the choice of transmission.

Many other rules governing the class are for driver safety and to keep costs down.

Sunset Speedway’s season included the Seaton Structures Modified division. After nine rounds, Wally Wilson claimed the class championship.

The final Modified event at Sunset Speedway was held during ‘The Last Dance’ weekend. Drivers competed in a fifty-lap contest around Sunset’s 1/3-mile banked asphalt oval.

The pace for ‘The Last Dance’ Modified race at Sunset Speedway. On the pole is the fastest qualifier, Wally Wilson, driving the No. 69 The Fyre Place Modified. Beside Wilson is the No. 47 Modified with support from The Tiny Human Company, piloted by Brent McLean. The second row is occupied by the No. 16f Aquaman Pool & Spa Service Modified of Mark Haufe and TJ Edwards in the No. 34 Overkill Enterprises Modified.
Wally Wilson is a busy man this season as he is competing in three Modified championships – Delaware Speedway, Sunset Speedway and OSCAAR Modifieds. Wilson wrapped up the Sunset title and finished fourth at Delaware with the OSCAAR crown still to be decided. He qualified on the pole for the Modified race at ‘The Last Dance.’ The driver of the No. 69 Fyre Place-sponsored Modified went flag-to-flag for the victory.
TJ Edwards won last year’s Just Foam it OSCAAR Modified title, but sold the championship-winning car to Amanda Balson to compete in this season’s Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model series. However, Edwards appeared at a recent Sunset event with a new Modified. At ‘The Last Dance’, he qualified fourth in the No. 34 Overkill Enterprises Modified. Edwards passed Brent McLean and Matt Haufe to finish in the runner-up position.
Brent McLean finished third in the Modified contest at ‘The Last Dance.’ McLean used to be a regular in the OSCAAR Modified division. His best season was 2013, when he collected nine top-five finishes, of which two were victories, and was second in the final point standings. During the qualifying session at Sunset Speedway, McLean recorded the second fastest time. However, in the race, he was unable to hold off TJ Edwards and finished in third place.
Mark Haufe competed in Sunset Speedway’s Seaton Structures’ Modified class, driving the No. 16f Aquaman Pool & Spa Service sponsored Modified. He participated on a limited basis and finished sixth in the final standings.  Haufe was the third fastest during the qualifying event for ‘The Last Dance.’ However, he was unable to match the pace set by TJ Edwards and crossed the finish line in the fourth position.
Wally Wilson has been getting a lot of seat time this year by participating in the Delaware, Sunset and OSCAAR championships. Obviously, it is paying off as he won Sunset’s Seaton Structures Modified championship. Wilson is joined by family, friends and his crew after he was victorious in the fifty-lap ‘The Last Dance’ Modified race.
