Flamboro Speedway’s Frostoberfest showcased many classes, but the race generating the most attention was the Grisdale Triple Crown for Pro Late Models. The event paid over $26,700, with the winner collecting $3,500. The twenty-fourth finisher received starting money of $800.

The Pro Late Models competed in three fifty laps contests. Points for each race were awarded based on finishing order, with the winner earning 50 points, the runner-up 49 points, third place receiving 48 points, and so on. The highest point total at the end of the final contest was declared the Grisdale Triple Crown winner.

There were some additional rules for the event:

  • It was a four-tire contest, with all tires being impounded by Gridales.
  • Teams were not allowed to adjust the cars after qualifying but were free to make changes after each race.
  • The first race was a dice draw invert of the qualifying order. Races two and three were an invert of all lead lap cars.
  • The ‘Choose Rule’ was not implemented.

The Pro Late Models are constructed according to specifications and controls standard to most stock car series. The chassis is a tube frame covered with fiberglass bodies. A car can weigh as much as 2800-lbs depending on the engine choice. Unlike the popular APC series, this event allows teams to compete with crate engines or built motors. Competitors use a spec tire from American Racer. There are also rules restricting the options for transmissions, ignition components, body material, brakes, etc.

The pace lap for race three, the final segment, of the Grisdale Triple Crown and twelve Pro Late Model competitors prepare to exit Flamboro Speedway’s corner three. On the pole is Ty Cavallin in the No. 7 New Generation Racing Engines Ford Fusion. On the outside of Cavallin is the No. 46 KRM Medweld Chevrolet SS driven by Billy Zardo. Immediately behind the leaders are Ryden Lapcevich and Billy Schwartzenberg.
On Sunday evening, Shae Gemmell, earned his fourth Grisdale Triple Crown. The driver of the No. 3 APC Auto Parts Centres Chevrolet SS was fresh off a victory in last weekend’s Castrol 300 at Delaware Speedway. Gemmell started segment one on the pole and went flag-to-flag for the victory. He lined up ninth for race two but charged to the front of the field and crossed the finish line in third place. Gemmell was the runner-up in the feature.
A week earlier, Jake Sheridan finished second in the Castrol 300 at Delaware Speedway. He was the runner-up in the APC United Late Model series and won the NTN BCA Triple Crown. Sheridan put the No. 52 Vibrent Farms Ford Mustang second on the grid for race one at Flamboro Speedway and chased Shae Gemmell to a second-place result. In the next contest, he finished third. Sheridan ended the event with a victory and second in the Grisdale Triple Crown.
This year’s Flamboro Speedway Late Model champion is Billy Schwartzenburg. Schwartzenburg pilots the No. 86 Hy-Grade Steel Roofing Ford Fusion. He used his track knowledge to start and finish third in the first race. In the next contest Schwartzenburg finished in the fourth spot. He ended the weekend with another third-place result. After three segments, Schwartzenburg and Jordan Howse were tied on points. Based on his performance in the final fifty-laps, he was awarded third overall.
Sunset Speedway’s 2025 GD Coates Pro Late Model champion Jordan Howse entered the Grisdale Triple Crown. Howse qualified seventh for the first contest and finished fifth in the No. 8 Paul Howse & Associates Chevrolet SS. He started segment two in the fifth spot. By lap 5, Howse was in the lead and claimed the victory. He finished fourth in the finale. Howse and Billy Schwartzenburg were tied for points at the end of the event.  He was awarded fourth overall as the result of a tiebreaker.
One of the last incidents during the Grisdale Triple Crown occurred on lap 3 of the final segment. Heading into corner three there was contact between the No. 31 Bollard Installer Chevrolet SS of Flamboro Speedway regular Kevin Gallant and Kyle Woods driving the No. 06 The Crushing Aghent Chevrolet SS. Gallant was able to continue and finished ninth. Unfortunately, Woods was unable to carry on and retired.
When the points were calculated after three segments of the Grisdale Triple Crown, Shae Gemmell was declared the winner. This was Gemmell’s second consecutive Crown and the fourth of his racing career. During the event, he collected a victory and two runner-up results. 2025 has been a good year for the driver of the No. 3 APC Auto Parts Centres Chevrolet SS. He won the final round of the APC United Late Model series, which vaulted him fromw fifth to third in the final standings.
