Flamboro Speedway’s Frostoberfest showcased many classes, but the race generating the most attention was the Grisdale Triple Crown for Pro Late Models.
The event paid over $26,700, with the winner collecting $3,500. The twenty-fourth finisher received starting money of $800.
The Pro Late Models competed in three fifty laps contests. Points for each race were awarded based on finishing order, with the winner earning 50 points, the runner-up 49 points, third place receiving 48 points, and so on. The highest point total at the end of the final contest was declared the Grisdale Triple Crown winner. There were some additional rules for the event:
The Pro Late Models are constructed according to specifications and controls standard to most stock car series. The chassis is a tube frame covered with fiberglass bodies. A car can weigh as much as 2800-lbs depending on the engine choice. Unlike the popular APC series, this event allows teams to compete with crate engines or built motors. Competitors use a spec tire from American Racer. There are also rules restricting the options for transmissions, ignition components, body material, brakes, etc.
