Now in its thirty-fifth year, the Ontario Stock Car Association of Asphalt Racers (OSCAAR) is responsible for sanctioning two divisions: Modified and Hot Rod.

On November 1, 2022, it was announced that OSCAAR had merged with the United Racing Series. The relationship increases OSCAAR’s resources and allows the United Racing Series to expand its brand and footprint in motorsports.

Ten races are on the 2025 OSCAAR Hot Rod schedule.

  • May 31 - Flamboro Speedway
  • June 14 - Sauble Speedway
  • June 28 - Delaware Speedway
  • July 12 - Full Throttle Speedway
  • July 26 - Peterborough Speedway
  • August 16 - Sauble Speedway
  • September 20 - Brighton Speedway
  • September 27 - Delaware Speedway
  • October 4 - Flamboro Speedway
  • October 10 - Peterborough Speedway

The cars competing in the championship are constructed to specifications and rules common to most stock car series. What makes the Hot Rod division unique are the makes and models that compete in the division. The cars must be North American, have a steel body and have been produced between 1949 and 1984. No convertibles or front-wheel-drive vehicles can participate in this series. Changes to the rules in the off-season included the addition of pick-up trucks and an increase in the eligible year range from 1974 to 1984. The Hot Rods must have a stock roof, grill, tail and the rest of the body panels can be fabricated from 22-gauge sheet steel but must retain a stock appearance. Many other rules governing this class are for safety and to keep the costs down.

Delaware Speedway hosted round three of the 2025 OSCAAR Hot Rod series during their Canada Day Weekend event. Drivers competed in a thirty-lap contest around the half-mile semi-banked asphalt oval.

Eleven OSCAAR Hot Rod competitors enter Delaware Speedway's back straight for round three of the championship. On the pole is the multi-time title holder Steve Book driving the No. 74 1960 Studebaker Hawk with backing from Beach Road Steel Sales and Refractory Removal Service. Sharing the outside of the front row with Book is Dalen Martin in the No. 26 1971 Ford Mach 1 Mustang. Martin won the second heat race.
The No. 26 1971 Ford Mach 1 Mustang is piloted by Dalen Martin. After two rounds of the OSCAAR Hot Rod series, he has third and fourth-place results. At Delaware Speedway, Martin won his heat race. He had a comfortable lead in the feature when a caution bunched the field. Martin was passed by Jason Parker and crossed the finish line in second; however, after the race, Parker was penalized, handing Martin the victory.
David Rockwood competes in the V8 Stock division at Delaware Speedway and has only entered a single event this year. Rockwood drives the No. 90 1973 Pontiac Firebird. Using his track knowledge, he was the runner-up in the second heat. Rockwood started the thirty-lap feature in sixth. During the race, he moved up to third place for a finish. However, Jason Parker’s penalty elevated Rockwood to a runner-up finish.
Another diver benefiting from Jason Parker’s penalty was Rob Bromley, who was classified with a third-place finish. Before the Delaware Speedway event, he had earned second and third-place results driving the No. 6 1972 Dodge Challenger. He competed in heat race one at Delaware and finished second. In the feature, Bromley was gridded third and passed Steve Book before losing positions to Jason Parker and David Rockwood.
Jason Parker made his series debut in the opening round at Flamboro. The driver of the No. 8 1968 Chevrolet Camaro finished fifth but was victorious in the next race at Sauble Speedway. Parker won his qualifier at Delaware and went on to cross the finish line first in the feature. However, he didn’t make it through the tech shed. Upon further inspection, his engine exceeded the maximum compression ratio of 9.5:1. As a result, Parker lost all points and money for the event.
The top three finishers for round three of the OSCAAR Hot Rod series before the technical inspection. In the center is Jason Parker, who was later penalized for an engine that exceeded the division’s maximum compression ratio of 9.5:1. On the right is Dalen Martin, who inherited the win. The results moved Martin into a tie at the top of the points standings with Tyler Hawn. On the left is David Rockwood, who was credited with a runner-up finish.
