The Toyo Tires F1600 Championship is an open-wheel racing series based
in Ontario and sanctioned by the Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs - Ontario region.
The Toyo Tires F1600 Championship calendar consists of six weekends, with each event hosting three rounds.
- May 16-18 - Victoria Day Speedfest - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
- May 31 - June 1 - St. LAC SMP Cup - Shannonville Motorsport Park
- June 13-15 - VARAC Vintage Grand Prix - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
- July 26-27 - BARC Canadian Touring Trophy Races - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
- August 8-10 - Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres - Trois-Rivieres
- August 23-24 - OSCC Summer Classic - Calabogie Motorsports Park
- September 20-21 - BEMC Late Summer Trophy Races - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
The single-seater, open-wheel race cars in the championship are powered by one of two engine options - a four-cylinder,
1600-cc Ford engine or the 1.5-liter HPD Honda L15A7. Both motors produce approximately 120-horsepower.
A mixture of European and North American chassis is used by competitors. Minimum vehicle weight is
determined by the suspension design and ranges from 1050 to 1125-lbs. Teams are required to use a spec tire – the Toyo Proxes R888R.
Drivers collect championship points in one of two groups.
- F1600A – This category is for newer chassis’ built between 1995 and 2025. There are two engine options available the Ford or Honda.
- F1600B – This group is for cars constructed before 1995. They are powered by the Ford engine.
The manufacture date for the individual car and not the model is used to determine the
year split and whether a vehicle is categorized as F1600A or F1600B.
The second race weekend of the 2025 Toyo Tires F1600 Championship Series was held at Shannonville Motorsport Park during the SMP Cup event.
Saturday’s activities were staged on the Pro Layout, while Sunday’s races were contested on the Long Track.

On the pole is the No. 3 Brian Graham Racing Piper DL7 of Saturday’s winner, Christain Menezes.
Starting beside Menezes is Henderson Knox, driving the No. 48 RHEA Group Van Diemen RF02. Behind the
leaders are Stewart Ross in the No. 67 Mygale SJ12 and Boss Patel in the No. 2 Piper DL7.

The F1600A class points leader points leader, Stewart Ross, found the competition had ‘upped their game’ when the series stopped at Shannonville.
The driver of the No. 67 Britain West Motorsports Mygale SJ12 was gridded third for the weekend’s first contest and finished in the same position.
The following morning, Ross was gridded third but moved into the lead early for the victory. In the finale, he went flag-to-flag for the win.

It appeared that Stewart Ross may be unbeatable this season after his dominant performance in the opening rounds at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
However, that idea could be dismissed after race one at Shannonville.
Brian Graham Racing’s Christain Menezes qualified second fastest in the No. 3 Piper DL7 and grabbed his first series victory.
The next morning, he finished fourth, but in the afternoon, Menezes bounced back for a runner-up result.

The F1600B category was not going to be ‘business as usual.’
In race one, the class points leader, Steve Bodrug, started third in the group but retired on the opening lap.
Dominating the category this weekend was Andrew Mason.
Mason began Saturday’s contest twelfth overall in the No. 32 Mason Racing Van Diemen RF90 and finished ninth with the class win.
On Sunday, he went uncontested for the F1600B victories and is the new points leader.

The third-place finisher, Lee Racicot, also had an ‘up and down’ weekend.

Behind Ross is the No. 48 RHEA Group Van Diemen RF02 of the other front-row starter, Henderson Knox.
Immediately behind the leaders are Christain Menezes and Johnathan Petrone.

The No. 48 RHEA Group Van Diemen RF02 is piloted by Henderson Knox.
Knox finished third in last year’s points chase.
His best result in the first three rounds was a second place in race two at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
At Shannonville, Knox qualified fourth for the first contest and finished second.
The next morning, he collected another runner-up result. In the finale, Knox started on the front row but finished fourth.

The first weekend of the 2025 Toyo Tires F1600 Championship was disappointing for Johnathan Petrone.
His best result was a sixth place.
However, the performance of the driver of the No. 64 Britain West Motorsports prepared Mygale SJ13 improved at Shannonville Motorsport Park.
He was gridded fifth for Saturday’s contest and finished fourth.
The following day, Petrone moved up the order and earned a pair of runner-up finishes.
