The Toyo Tires F1600 Championship is an open-wheel racing series based in Ontario and sanctioned by the Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs - Ontario region.

The Toyo Tires F1600 Championship calendar consists of six weekends, with each event hosting three rounds.

  • May 16-18 - Victoria Day Speedfest - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
  • May 31 - June 1 - St. LAC SMP Cup - Shannonville Motorsport Park
  • June 13-15 - VARAC Vintage Grand Prix - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
  • July 26-27 - BARC Canadian Touring Trophy Races - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
  • August 8-10 - Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres - Trois-Rivieres
  • August 23-24 - OSCC Summer Classic - Calabogie Motorsports Park
  • September 20-21 - BEMC Late Summer Trophy Races - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

The single-seater, open-wheel race cars in the championship are powered by one of two engine options - a four-cylinder, 1600-cc Ford engine or the 1.5-liter HPD Honda L15A7. Both motors produce approximately 120-horsepower. A mixture of European and North American chassis is used by competitors. Minimum vehicle weight is determined by the suspension design and ranges from 1050 to 1125-lbs. Teams are required to use a spec tire – the Toyo Proxes R888R.

Drivers collect championship points in one of two groups.

  • F1600A – This category is for newer chassis’ built between 1995 and 2025. There are two engine options available the Ford or Honda.
  • F1600B – This group is for cars constructed before 1995. They are powered by the Ford engine.

The manufacture date for the individual car and not the model is used to determine the year split and whether a vehicle is categorized as F1600A or F1600B.

The first weekend of the 2025 Toyo Tires F1600 Championship Series was held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park during the Victoria Day Speedfest event. Drivers would collect points in three contests around the ten-turn 2.459-mile road course.

The first lap of round two (Sunday morning) for the 2025 Toyo Tires F1600 Champion and seventeen competitors funnel into Canadian Tire Motorsport Park's corner one.  At the head of the field is the pole-sitter, Boss Patel, in the No. 2 Brian Graham Racing Piper DL7. Trailing Patel is the No. 64 Britain West Motorsport Mygale SJ13 driven by Johnathan Petrone and Henderson Knox in the No. 48 RHEA Group Van Diemen RF02.
Stewart Ross' 2025 campaign began early with attendance at the Spring Fling in April and last weekend's BEMC Spring Trophy Races at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Ross qualified on the pole for round one in the No. 67 Britain West Motorsports Mygale SJ12 and went flag to flag for the victory. On Sunday morning, his task was more difficult as he started fifth but was out front at the checker.  A win in the finale gave Ross a sweep of the weekend.
With Stewart Ross's domination of the opening weekend, the best of the rest was Christain Menezes. Menezes qualified third fastest in the No. 3 Brian Graham Racing Piper DL7. He ran as low as sixth in the race but bounced back to capture third place. On Sunday morning, Menezes held his position and captured the final spot on the podium. In the afternoon, he was gridded on the outside of the front row. Menezes overcame a poor start to finish second.
The reigning Toyo Tires F1600B champion began in 2025, where he left off last year. Steve Bodrug dominated category B in the No. 41 SPEEDPROSIGNSHOP.COM Van Diemen. For most of the event, Bodrug raced with F1600A competitor Graham Lobban. He opened the defense of his title by qualifying ninth overall and winning his class. The next day followed a similar pattern: Bodrug competed with the class A drivers and collected a pair of F1600B victories.
There were four Piper DL7s entered out of the Brian Graham Racing stable. The No. 4 model was piloted by Parker Gill. Last season, Gill secured the Toyo Tires F1600 Rookie of the Year title.   He qualified fourth for Saturday afternoon's contest, and after trading positions for much of the race with Johnathan Petrone, he finished second. Unfortunately, he wasn't as successful on Sunday but earned a pair of fifth-place results.
Henderson Knox delivered some brilliant performances in 2024 and finished third in the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship. Driving the No. 48 RHEA Group Van Diemen RF02, Knox qualified sixth for race one and finished fifth. The next morning, he was gridded in the fourth position but moved into the lead on lap 3. Knox held the top spot until being passed by Stewart Ross. His weekend ended with a seventh-place result.
The start of the weekend's final race (Round 3 of the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship). At the front of the field is the pole-sitter and the winner of the first two contests, Stewart Ross, in the No. 67  Britain West Motorsports Mygale SJ12. Chasing Ross is Parker Gill driving the No. 4 Brian Graham Racing Piper DL7 and Gill's teammate Christain Menezes in the No. 3 Piper DL7. Behind the leaders are James Lindsay and Henderson Knox.
A member of this season's rookie crop is Calgary, Alberta's Boss Patel. Patel drives the No. 2 Brian Graham Racing-prepared Piper DL7. He qualified seventh fastest for round one and finished in fourth position. During the race, Patel recorded the fastest lap and started on the pole Sunday morning. Unfortunately, he crashed and retired after just three laps. In the afternoon, Patel redeemed himself with a third-place result.
