2025 marks the eleventh season of the very successful United Racing Series.

The 2025 APC United Late Model championship kicks off on the Victoria Day weekend at Sunset Speedway with a race called the Dayco 100. In early June, the teams make the first of two stops at Flamboro Speedway. In the middle of June, the Spectra Premium 100 is held at Peterborough Speedway. On the Canada Day weekend, drivers compete at Delaware Speedway in the AC Delco 100. The next race sees the championship make its final appearance at Flamboro Speedway for the London Recreational Racing 100. The Mid-Summer Classic 100 is conducted in early August at Sauble Speedway. Teams return to Sauble for round seven, called the Stewarts & Kubota 100. The penultimate event of 2025 is at Sunset Speedway during the Labour Day Weekend. Titles are determined on September 27 at Delaware Speedway during the Castrol Great Canadian 300.

The series rules remain unchanged from last season, with the cars constructed to specifications and controls common to most stock car series. The chassis is a tube frame covered with fiberglass bodies. Depending on the engine choice, a car can weigh as much as 2800 lbs. Crate motors from General Motors (GM 604 & GM 602) and Ford (347) are used in the series. Competitors use a spec tire from American Racer and Bilstein A2 shock absorbers to regulate expenses. There are also rules restricting the options for transmissions, ignition components, body material, brakes, etc.

To determine the starting order of the race, drivers participate in a qualifying session. The five fastest qualifiers selected starting positions one through five during a random draw. Before each race, the cars receive a technical inspection and are impounded until the start of the event.

A new restart procedure was introduced in 2023 by series officials for the APC United Late Model and Dayco Super Stock divisions called the 'choose rule.' On restarts, competitors are allowed to choose their lane. Their selection may be determined by the condition of the track, how many cars are ahead of them, or the handling of their vehicle. If a driver changes their choice after the designated 'choose spot,' they must start from the rear of the field.

The NTN BCA Bearings Triple Crown is returning for this season. The three marquee events are held June 7 at Flamboro Speedway, August 30 at Sunset Speedway, and September 27 at Delaware Speedway. The three-race mini-series has a prize fund of $15,000. First place pays $3,500, second $2,500, third $2,000, and fourth through tenth $1,000.

The 2025 APC United Late Model season ended with the Great Canadian Race Weekend at Delaware Speedway. Drivers competed in a three-hundred-lap contest around Delaware’s ˝-mile semi-banked asphalt oval in an event called the Castrol 300.

Due to the length of the race, yellow periods were scheduled to appear at approximately one-hundred lap intervals to allow the teams to pit and refuel their cars.

In addition to determining this year’s APC United Late Model champion, the event would also decide the NTN BCA Bearing Triple Crown winner.

With a purse of $15,000 to win, the Castrol 300 attracted twenty-seven Late Model competitors.

The pace lap for the first one-hundred segment of the Castrol 300 at Delaware Speedway. On the pole is last year’s winner and the fourth fastest qualifier, Connor Pritiko, driving the No. 19 Domus Developments Chevrolet Camaro. Beside Pritilo is the No. 78 Elite Property Group Chevrolet Camaro of Jo Lawrence. In the second row are Shae Gemmell driving the No. 3 Chevrolet SS and the No. 52 Ford Mustang of Jake Sheridan.
On Saturday evening, Shae Gemmell won his second Castrol 300. Gemmell was fifth fastest during the qualifying session and lined up for the race in the third spot, driving the No. 3 APC Auto Parts Centres Chevrolet SS. He dominated the proceedings. With twenty-two laps to go, Gemmell had contact with Jesse Kennedy. It was determined that Gemmell was at fault and sent to the rear of the field. He battled to the front and grabbed the lead and win with five laps remaining.
Jake Sheridan was one of three drivers with a chance of winning the APC United Late Model title. Sheridan would have to dominate the event, while his rivals experienced issues. He was the fastest qualifier and started fourth in the No. 52 Vibrent Farms Ford Mustang. Sheridan was leading late in the race; however, he was passed by a hard-charging Shae Gemmell and finished in second place. His result earned him second in the final standings and the NTN BCA Bearing Triple Crown.
Two-time APC United Late Model champion JR Fitzpatrick made his first series start of the year at the Castrol 300. Fitzpatrick’s focus this season has been on a newly constructed GT1 Chevrolet and the Ontario Outlaw Late Model series. He drove the No. 3 Choko / EHR Chevrolet Camaro, usually piloted by Jason Hathaway. A sticking throttle relegated Fitzpatrick to a sixteenth starting spot. However, the issue was resolved for the race. He moved to the front and finished third.
The winner of the Castrol 300, Shae Gemmell, is joined by Jake Sheridan and JR Fitzpatrick. Gemmell dominated the race, but he had to overcome a penalty late in the contest for the victory. The result moved him from fifth to third in the series final standings. On the left is the runner-up, Sheridan. His performance in the finale earned him the NTN BCA Bearing Triple Crown. Fitzpatrick finished third in his only appearance of the season.
Leading the standings entering the finale was Josh Stade. Stade has competed in the APC United Late Model series since its inception. With a slim four-point lead over the defending champion, Kyle Steckly, the team knew that they needed a near-perfect event. Unfortunately, Stade was only the tenth fastest in qualifying. However, the driver of the No. 17 Canada Clean Fuels Toyota Camry drove a clean race and finished fourth to earn the championship.
Josh Stade and his family celebrate his first APC United Late Model Series championship at Delaware Speedway. Before this season, his best final results were in 2022 and 2024, when he finished fourth. Consistency can be credited with Stade securing the crown. He had nine top-five finishes in as many starts and collected his second series victory in the opening round at Sunset Speedway. During the Castrol 300, Stade avoided much of the drama to finish fourth.
Earning the Rookie of the Year title was Cory McAllister. McAllister campaigned the No. 71 Chevrolet SS with backing from NTN BCA Bearings. He competed in all nine events of the APC United Late Model Series. His best result of the year was an eighth place in round four at Delaware Speedway. McAllister finished eleventh in the final standings – twenty-one points ahead of the other rookie contender, Kendra Adams.
On lap 42, a significant accident on the front stretch changed the completion of the championship. A flat tire caused Carson Nagy to stop perpendicular to the track direction. First on the scene was Jonathan Aarts, who hit Nagy. In short order, the pair was joined by DJ Kennington and title contender Kyle Steckly. Kennington slid into the other championship hopeful, Jake Sheridan. Nagy and Aarts retired. The others continued with various degrees of damage.
The lap-42 accident had major implications for Kyle Steckly. Steckly entered the weekend just four points behind the championship leader, Josh Stade. He qualified second fastest and started fifth in the No. 22 APC Auto Parts Centres Ford Mustang. Steckly was in third place at the time of the incident and rear-ended DJ Kennington. Steckly made several stops for repairs. Late in the race, it was decided to withdraw the car, while in eighteenth place.
