The Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model Series was formed at the end of the 2017 season by promoters from Peterborough Speedway, Sauble Speedway, Jukasa Motor Speedway, Flamboro Speedway, and Sunset Speedway. They aimed to grow Ontario's fastest full-body stock car shows by ensuring that the Super Late Models are prepared according to a consistent set of rules, there aren't scheduling conflicts, and healthy purses to attract competitors.

This year's championship kicks off in June at Sunset Speedway and ends nine rounds later on October 5 at Flamboro Speedway.

  • June 1 - Sunset Speedway
  • June 15 - Flamboro Speedway
  • June 29 - Sunset Speedway
  • July 6 - Sauble Speedway
  • July 13 - Peterborough Speedway
  • August 13 - Flamboro Speedway (Gold Rush 124)
  • August 16 - Delaware Speedway
  • August 31 - Sunset Speedway
  • September 1 - Sunset Speedway
  • October 5 - Flamboro Speedway

Race six on the tour was to take place at Flamboro Speedway on August 3. However, it was rescheduled to coincide with Flamboro's Gold Rush date.

Flamboro Speedway was offering a total purse of $50,000, with $12,000 going to the winner, based on a twenty-two-car field. As an incentive, $300 tow money was given to teams traveling from the United States or Sault Ste. Marie that registered before July 31.

The Ontario Outlaw Super Late Models are prepared to a minimal set of guidelines. Some requirements include a minimum wheelbase of 102 inches and ten-inch wide steel wheels. The maximum allowable track width is 82 inches. Carburetors are limited to 850 cfm (no fuel injection). There are several engine choices:

  • Cars with a crate engine must weigh no less than 2,600 lbs.
  • Outlaw Super Late Models using a built motor with cast iron heads are required to weigh no less than 2,650 lbs.
  • Vehicles with built motors fitted with aluminum heads have a minimum weight of 2,725 lbs.

Cars are weighed with the driver, and the distribution on the left side must not exceed 60%. All competitors race on Hoosier Tires.

The Gold Rush 124 was a 124-lap contest around Flamboro Speedway's 1/3-mile semi-banked asphalt oval.

A mandatory yellow flag pit stop was scheduled between lap sixty and sixty-five to allow for refueling.

An inverted start was implemented with the cars changing grid positions as determined by a roll of the dice. The fastest qualifier, Kyle Crump, rolled a seven. As a result, Dario Capirchio started on the pole in the No. 03 Passer Racing Chevrolet powered Outlaw Super Late Model. On the outside of Capirchio was the No. 17 Jenco Equipment Outlaw Super Late Model driven by Brandon Passer. Twenty entries participated in the Gold Rush 124.
Michigan's Kyle Crump is a Reveal the Hammer Outlaw Super Late Model Series regular and drives the No. 16 Big Rigs Incorporated car.  Crump is seventh in the standings, finishing second in the most recent round. At Flamboro Speedway, Crump qualified on the pole but rolled the dice and started seventh. By lap 11, he was in first place and held the spot to mandatory yellow. On the restart, Crump held off Blake Childers for the victory.
Blake Childers, who pilots the No. 10 Wheeler Trucking car, is also from Michigan. He competed in the Reveal the Hammer series and won at Owosso Speedway. Childers qualified second fastest but was gridded sixth after the invert. On lap 10, there was contact with Dario Capirchio, which sent him to the rear of the field. In the race's second half, Childers chased down Kyle Crump but could not make the pass and finished second.
One of the local favourites was J.R. Fitzpatrick in the No. 84 Cambridge Rigging car. Fitzpatrick qualified at the front of the grid but chose to make adjustments after the session, which resulted in him starting seventeenth. By the mandatory yellow, he was in fourth place. During the stoppage, Fitzpatrick decided to make additional changes and restarted from the back. He charged through the field, and on lap 105, Fitzpatrick passed Kyle Steckly for third place.
Kyle Steckly debuted the latest race car out of the Glenn Styres stable. Steckly also had Ontario's greatest short track minds helping him set up the vehicle. Like J.R. Fitzpatrick, he was one of the top qualifiers but took the penalty of starting at the rear to allow the crew to make adjustments. Steckly finished fifth in the first segment after being passed by Blake Childers. In the second half, he lost third on lap 105 to Fitzpatrick and finished fourth.
Multi-time Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model champion Glenn Watson drove the familiar No. 22 Line-X Barrie-sponsored Chevrolet Camaro. During the qualifying session, Watson was fifth fastest and gridded third after the inverter. When the yellow flag flew for the mandatory stop, he was in the second position. Watson finished in the fifth spot, unable to hold off Blake Childers, J.R Fitzpatrick, and Kyle Steckly.
The No. 11 R&B Car Company Outlaw Super Late Model was driven by Jaden Cretacci, who traveled from Indiana for the Gold Rush 124. Cretacci chased a handling issue during the event, but the car was never quite to his liking. He qualified and started in the fourth position. Cretacci ran as high as third before the lap-64 lap break but took the yellow flag in sixth place. Cretacci moved up and down the order and would eventually finish sixth.
The top three finishers for the Gold Rush 124 at Flamboro Speedway are. In the center, Kyle Crump from Brighton, Michigan, is the winner. Despite being a very competitive race, Crump led all but eleven laps. Keeping Crump honest was Blake Childers. Childers rebounded from a spin on lap 10 to finish in the runner-up position. The highest-placed Canadian was J.R. Fitzpatrick, who started at the back of the field and finished third.
