Now in its thirty-fourth year, the Ontario Stock Car Association of Asphalt Racers (OSCAAR) is responsible for sanctioning two divisions: Modified and Hot Rod.

On November 1, 2022, it was announced that OSCAAR had merged with the United Racing Series. The relationship increases OSCAAR's resources and allows the United Racing Series to expand its brand and footprint in motorsports.

The Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Series, which receives backing from Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC, draws many competitors and features exciting races.

There are twelve races on the 2024 OSCAAR Modified schedule.

  • May 18 - Sunset Speedway
  • June 1 - Flamboro Speedway
  • June 15 - Sauble Speedway
  • June 28 - Delaware Speedway
  • June 29 - Delaware Speedway
  • July 13 - Full Throttle Motor Speedway
  • August 3 - Peterborough Speedway
  • August 17 - Sauble Speedway
  • August 24 - Sunset Speedway
  • September 7 - Delaware Speedway
  • October 5 - Flamboro Speedway
  • October 12 - Peterborough Speedway

The cars competing in this class are purpose-built open-wheel vehicles. The Modifieds use a steel tube frame chassis, which is no less than 1-3/4-inch outside diameter with 0.095-inch wall thickness. Bodies are made of sheet metal, with the driver’s compartment and engine bay covered. The cars may be any make or model, but they tend to have little to no resemblance to their road-going counterparts.

The engine option selected by the car owner determines the weight of the vehicle. A Modified using 350-horsepower Crate Engine is the lightest at 2,600 pounds and 2,775 pounds is required for a car powered by a Built Motor. Weight may be added or removed depending on the choice of transmission.

Many of the other rules governing the OSCAAR Modified class are for driver safety and to keep costs down.

The opening round of the 2024 Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Series was held at Sunset Speedway. The schedule included two heat races for each driver. The feature was a forty-lap contest around the 1/3-mile semi-banked asphalt oval.

Fourteen 2024 Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified competitors line up on Sunset Speedway’s back straight for round one of the championship. Starting on the pole is the No. 46 Allstar Performance Modified of Steve Trendell.  Beside Trendell is Rick Spencer-Walt driving the No. 99 Neviss Electrical Systems Modified. Row two is occupied by the No. 15 The Car Guy sponsored Modified of Brad Pearsall and A.J. Emms driving the No. 14 FMR Scrap Buyers Modified.
Sunset Speedway favourite Rick Spencer-Walt went flag-to-flag for the victory in the opening round of the 2024 Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified series. Spencer-Walt drove the No. 99 Neviss Electrical Systems Modified previously campaigned by Luke Gignac. In the first heat, he finished third and collected a victory in the second. Spencer-Walt started the feature in second and faced challenges from A.J. Emms and T.J. Edwards before winning.
The No. 34 Green Plumbing/ GAF Modified was driven by T.J. Edwards. Edwards finished second in last year’s Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified championship. He was victorious in the first heat race of the season. In the final qualifier, Edwards finished third. He started the finale in the fifth position. By the mid-point of the feature, Edwards had moved to third place. With less than ten laps to go, Edwards passed A.J. Emms and collected a runner-up result.
AThe 2019 Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified champion was A.J. Emms, the driver of the No. 14 BAE Environmental / FMR Scrap Buyers Modified. Emms finished third in his first heat race and won the second contest. He was gridded in fourth place for the finale. Almost immediately, Emms moved into second place and challenged Rick Spencer-Walt. However, he found himself defending against T.J. Edwards and lost the position to finish third.
Dale Reinhart is a veteran of the Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified series. He has finished third in the final standing three times, the most recent years being 2022 and 2023. He finished third in the first qualifier driving the No. 51 SGR Plumbing-sponsored Modified and was the runner-up in the second heat race. Reinhart started the forty-lap feature in the sixth spot. He got by the No. 15 The Car Guy Modified of Brad Pearsall for a fourth-place result.
