Now in its thirty-fourth year, the Ontario Stock Car Association of Asphalt Racers (OSCAAR) is responsible for sanctioning two divisions: Modified and Hot Rod.

On November 1, 2022, it was announced that OSCAAR had merged with the United Racing Series. The relationship increases OSCAAR's resources and allows the United Racing Series to expand its brand and footprint in motorsports.

The Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Series, which receives backing from Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC, draws many competitors and features exciting races.

There are twelve races on the 2024 OSCAAR Modified schedule.

  • May 18 - Sunset Speedway
  • June 1 - Flamboro Speedway
  • June 15 - Sauble Speedway
  • June 28 - Delaware Speedway
  • June 29 - Delaware Speedway
  • July 13 - Full Throttle Motor Speedway
  • August 3 - Peterborough Speedway
  • August 17 - Sauble Speedway - cancelled due to weather
  • August 24 - Sunset Speedway
  • September 7 - Delaware Speedway
  • October 5 - Flamboro Speedway
  • October 12 - Peterborough Speedway

The cars competing in this class are purpose-built open-wheel vehicles. The Modifieds use a steel tube frame chassis, which is no less than 1-3/4-inch outside diameter with 0.095-inch wall thickness. Bodies are made of sheet metal, with the driver’s compartment and engine bay covered. The cars may be any make or model, but they tend to have little to no resemblance to their road-going counterparts.

The engine option selected by the car owner determines the weight of the vehicle. A Modified using 350-horsepower Crate Engine is the lightest at 2,600 pounds and 2,775 pounds is required for a car powered by a Built Motor. Weight may be added or removed depending on the choice of transmission.

Many of the other rules governing the OSCAAR Modified class are for driver safety and to keep costs down.

Round ten of the 2024 Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified series was held at Delaware Speedway during the Great Canadian Race Weekend. Drivers competed in a twenty-five-lap contest around the ½-mile semi-banked asphalt oval.

Weather impacted the event, forcing officials to reduce the practice to ten minutes and eliminate the heat races.

The rain delay required officials to set the starting grid by inverting the field based on points and attendance. T.J. Edwards was the fastest in the practice session driving the No. 34 Green Plumbing / GAF and started on the outside of the front row. The pole went to title contender Jason Keen, driving the No. 18 Modified with backing from Oakville Auto and Diesel. Gridded behind the leaders are Ryan Dick and Jamie Cox.
On Saturday evening, T.J. Edwards went flag-to-flag for the victory. The points leader moved from the outside of the front row to grab the lead on lap one. From there it was ‘clear sailing’ as Edwards was never threatened for first place. His record in 2024 now sits at three feature wins and nine heat victories. More importantly, Edwards has extended his championship points lead with just two events remaining on the schedule.
Jamie Cox finished in the runner-up position. Cox is a regular at Delaware Speedway and does not travel to any other series tracks with the No. 3 APC / CANUSA-sponsored Modified. Despite his limited time behind the wheel, his experience at Delaware allows him to be competitive. He entered race two at the Canada Day Race Weekend and won. Cox started in the sixth position but moved forward early and finished in second place.
Dale Reinhart made his first Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Series start in 2016. His best championship finishes were 2018, 2022, and 2023, when he was third in the final standings. This season, the Great Canadian Race Weekend at Delaware Speedway would be his sixth race of the year. Reinhart was gridded fourth in the No. 51 Modified with support from SGR Plumbing. During the race, he passed Jason Keen to finish in the third spot.
Jason Keen was last year’s Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified champion. Keen never won a feature but used consistency to secure the title. This season, his record includes a feature victory. Heading into Delaware, Keen trailed the points leader, T.J. Edwards, by eight markers. He started on the pole in the No. 18 Oakville Auto and Diesel Model. Unfortunately for Keen, he fell down the race order and finished fifth. He is twenty-six points behind Edwards.
The top three finishers for round ten of the 2024 Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Series at Delaware Speedway’s Great Canadian Race Weekend. On the right are the race winner and current points leader, T.J. Edwards. Edwards led from start to finish for his third victory of the year. In the center is local racer Jamie Cox. In just two starts in 2024, he has first and second-place finishes. The final position is occupied by the third place finisher, Dale Reinhart.
