Now in its thirty-fourth year, the Ontario Stock Car Association of Asphalt Racers (OSCAAR) is responsible for sanctioning two divisions: Modified and Hot Rod.

On November 1, 2022, it was announced that OSCAAR had merged with the United Racing Series. The relationship increases OSCAAR's resources and allows the United Racing Series to expand its brand and footprint in motorsports.

The Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Series, which receives backing from Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC, draws many competitors and features exciting races.

There are twelve races on the 2024 OSCAAR Modified schedule.

  • May 18 - Sunset Speedway
  • June 1 - Flamboro Speedway
  • June 15 - Sauble Speedway
  • June 28 - Delaware Speedway
  • June 29 - Delaware Speedway
  • July 13 - Full Throttle Motor Speedway
  • August 3 - Peterborough Speedway
  • August 17 - Sauble Speedway
  • August 24 - Sunset Speedway
  • September 7 - Delaware Speedway
  • October 5 - Flamboro Speedway
  • October 12 - Peterborough Speedway

The cars competing in this class are purpose-built open-wheel vehicles. The Modifieds use a steel tube frame chassis, which is no less than 1-3/4-inch outside diameter with 0.095-inch wall thickness. Bodies are made of sheet metal, with the driver’s compartment and engine bay covered. The cars may be any make or model, but they tend to have little to no resemblance to their road-going counterparts.

The engine option selected by the car owner determines the weight of the vehicle. A Modified using 350-horsepower Crate Engine is the lightest at 2,600 pounds and 2,775 pounds is required for a car powered by a Built Motor. Weight may be added or removed depending on the choice of transmission.

Many of the other rules governing the OSCAAR Modified class are for driver safety and to keep costs down.

Round five of the 2024 Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Series presented by The Fyre Place and Patio Shop was conducted at Delaware Speedway during the track’s Canada Day Race Weekend event. The race was initially scheduled for Saturday; however, with rain forecasted, organizers decided to have the contest on Sunday.

Nine Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Series competitors enter Delaware Speedway’s turn one for round five of the championship. The No. 48 Overkill Enterprises Modified of David Mathers is on the pole and pacing the field. Mathers was having issues with his car on Friday and the rescheduled event allowed the team to rectify the problems. Beside Mathers is the No. 69 The Fyre Place and Patio Shop sponsored Modified, driven by Wally Wilson.
Jamie Cox did not enter Friday’s contest as he was helping his son Jay in the Dayco Super Stock event. The multi-time Delaware track champion was making his first Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Series start in 2024. The local favourite was fast and collected the win in his heat race. Cox was gridded seventh in the feature but began his march through the field early. By lap 14, he was in the lead and held on for the victory.
Finishing in the runner-up position just 0.554 seconds behind Cox was Jason Keen. Keen drives the No. 18 Oakville Auto and Diesel Modified. He finished third in Friday’s contest. Keen finished second in Sunday’s qualifier and started the finale in the fourth position. He moved to the front early, but on lap 14, Keen could not hold off a hard-charging Jamie Cox. He maintained the spot for the remainder of the contest and finished second.
T.J. Edwards only completed one lap in round four on Friday. The No. 34 Green Plumbing / GAF Modified retired with a differential problem. Returning on Sunday, the two-time Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Series champion got some redemption when he won his heat race. Edwards started the twenty-lap feature in fifth. Passes on David Mathers, Wally Wilson, and Steve Trendall were rewarded with a third-place result.
In Friday’s Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified race, Steve Trendall finished in the runner-up position, his best result of this season. Driving the No. 46 Allstar Performance Modified, he finished fourth in round five’s qualifier. Trendall started the weekend’s final contest in the third spot. He was able to pass Dave Mathers and Wally Wilson but couldn’t hold off Jamie Cox, Jason Keen, and T.J. Edwards. Trendall finished fourth.
The top three finishers for round five of the 2024 Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Series presented by The Fyre Place and Patio Shop. In the center, making his first series appearance of the year, is the winner, Jamie Cox. On the right is the series reigning champion and runner-up, Jason Keen.   Keen’s results this weekend moved him to within nine points of the championship leader and third-place finisher, T.J. Edwards.
