Now in its thirty-fourth year, the Ontario Stock Car Association of Asphalt Racers (OSCAAR) is responsible for sanctioning two divisions: Modified and Hot Rod.

On November 1, 2022, it was announced that OSCAAR had merged with the United Racing Series. The relationship increases OSCAAR's resources and allows the United Racing Series to expand its brand and footprint in motorsports.

The Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Series, which receives backing from Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC, draws many competitors and features exciting races.

There are twelve races on the 2024 OSCAAR Modified schedule.

  • May 18 - Sunset Speedway
  • June 1 - Flamboro Speedway
  • June 15 - Sauble Speedway
  • June 28 - Delaware Speedway
  • June 29 - Delaware Speedway
  • July 13 - Full Throttle Motor Speedway
  • August 3 - Peterborough Speedway
  • August 17 - Sauble Speedway
  • August 24 - Sunset Speedway
  • September 7 - Delaware Speedway
  • October 5 - Flamboro Speedway
  • October 12 - Peterborough Speedway

The cars competing in this class are purpose-built open-wheel vehicles. The Modifieds use a steel tube frame chassis, which is no less than 1-3/4-inch outside diameter with 0.095-inch wall thickness. Bodies are made of sheet metal, with the driver’s compartment and engine bay covered. The cars may be any make or model, but they tend to have little to no resemblance to their road-going counterparts.

The engine option selected by the car owner determines the weight of the vehicle. A Modified using 350-horsepower Crate Engine is the lightest at 2,600 pounds and 2,775 pounds is required for a car powered by a Built Motor. Weight may be added or removed depending on the choice of transmission.

Many of the other rules governing the OSCAAR Modified class are for driver safety and to keep costs down.

Rounds four and five of the 2024 Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Series presented by The Fyre Place and Patio Shop were conducted at Delaware Speedway during the track’s Canada Day Race Weekend event. Drivers would compete on the ½-mile semi-banked asphalt oval.

The pace lap for round four of the 2024 Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Series and nine competitors line up on Delaware’s back straight. On the pole is Wally Wilson in the No. 69 The Fyre Place and Patio Shop Modified. Sharing the front row with Wilson is the No. 46 Allstar Performance Modified driven by Steve Trendell. Immediately behind the leaders are Brad Pearsall in the No. 15 The Car Guy Modified and the No. 18 Modified of Jason Keen.
Brad Pearsall has shown excellent results in this season’s heat races; however, he has yet to win a feature. That changed on Friday night at Delaware Speedway. Pearsall, driving the No. 15 The Car Guy sponsored Modified, won his heat race and started the twenty-lap finale in the third position. He moved into the lead early and controlled the pace. Pearsall was the first to cross the finish line and won by a margin of 3.191 seconds.
Another driver who delivered the best performance of the season was Steve Trendall. Trendall was eighth in the season opener at Sunset, followed by a fifth at Flamboro and a seventh place at Sauble. At Delaware Speedway, he started the feature outside of the front row, driving the No. 45 Allstar Performance Modified. During the race, Trendall lost a position to the eventual winner, Brad Pearsall, but passed Wally Wilson for a second-place finish.
Last year’s Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified champion was Jason Keen. Keen drives the No. 18 Modified with backing from Oakville Auto and Diesel. His record to date includes a win at Flamboro, a fourth at Sauble, and a fifth place in race one at Sunset Speedway. Keen started the finale at Delaware in the fourth position. A pass early in the race on Wally Wilson netted him a third-place result.
Local competitor Marshall Schrenk made his first Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Series start of 2024 at Delaware Speedway. In the series three visits last season, Schrenk used his local track knowledge to collect second, third, and seventh-place results. He started the twenty-lap finale in the sixth grid position. The retirement of T.J. Edwards and a pass on Wally Wilson contributed to Schrenk’s fourth-place finish.
The top three finishers for round four of the 2024 Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Series presented by The Fyre Place and Patio Shop. In the center is the winner, Brad Pearsall. This was Pearsall’s first victory of the year and his second in forty-two series starts. On the left is the runner-up, Steve Trendall, who collected his best result of the 2024 season. The final position is occupied by the third-place finisher and defending champion, Jason Keen.
