Now in its thirty-fourth year, the Ontario Stock Car Association of Asphalt Racers (OSCAAR) is responsible for sanctioning two divisions: Modified and Hot Rod.

On November 1, 2022, it was announced that OSCAAR had merged with the United Racing Series. The relationship increases OSCAAR’s resources and allows the United Racing Series to expand its brand and footprint in motorsports.

In other news, JRS Auctions.com signed on as the title sponsor for the Hot Rod division.

Twelve races are on the 2024 JRS Auctions OSCAAR Hot Rod schedule.

  • June 1 - Flamboro Speedway
  • June 15 - Sauble Speedway
  • June 28 - Delaware Speedway
  • June 29 - Delaware Speedway
  • July 13 - Full Throttle Speedway
  • August 3 - Peterborough Speedway
  • August 17 - Sauble Speedway
  • August 24 - Sunset Speedway
  • September 7 - Delaware Speedway
  • September 21 - Brighton Speedway
  • October 5 - Flamboro Speedway
  • October 12 - Peterborough Speedway

The cars competing in the championship are constructed to specifications and rules common to most stock car series. What makes the Hot Rod division unique are the makes and models that compete in the division. The cars must be North American, have a steel body and have been produced between 1949 and 1984. No convertibles or front-wheel-drive vehicles can participate in this series. Changes to the rules in the off-season included the addition of pick-up trucks and an increase in the eligible year range from 1974 to 1984. The Hot Rods must have a stock roof, grill, tail and the rest of the body panels can be fabricated from 22-gauge sheet steel but must retain a stock appearance. Many other rules governing this class are for safety and to keep the costs down.

Round four of the 2024 JRS Auction OSCAAR Hot Rod feature presented by The Fyre Place and Patio Shop at Delaware Speedway was scheduled for Saturday. However, the weather forecast indicated heavy rain in the area. As a result, officials rescheduled the race for Sunday.

The pace lap for round four of the 2024 JRS Auction OSCAAR Hot Rod Series at Delaware Speedway. Eighteen competitors enter turn one for the twenty-five-lap contest. On the pole is the No. 4 1974 Chevrolet Camaro of Steve McCaw. Next to McCaw is Kenny McNicol, Jr., driving the No. 77 Chevrolet Laguna. Behind the leaders in row two are the 1960 Studebaker Hawk of Steve Book and Rob Bromley driving a 1972 AMC Javelin.
Another victory in round four of the 2024 JRS Auction OSCAAR Hot Rod Series gives Tyler Hawn his third win of the season and the championship lead. Hawn started the feature in eighth position after finishing fourth in the second qualifier. During the feature, the leaders, Kenny McNicol, Jr. and Steve McCaw pulled away from the field. However, the pair had contact in turn one with six laps to go. Hawn inherited first place and the victory.
Rob Bromley has a couple of cars to choose from and entered the No. 6 1972 AMC Javelin for the Canada Day Race Weekend event at Delaware Speedway. On Friday evening, Bromley started ninth and finished in the fourth spot. When the series returned on Sunday, he finished fourth in his heat and was gridded fourth for the twenty-five-lap contest. Like Hawn, Bromley benefitted from the McCaw and McNicol incident to finish second..
Matt Hopkins campaigns the No. 44 1964 Pontiac Laurentian.   Hopkins made his first start of 2024 at Sauble Speedway, where he finished tenth. He started twelfth in round three at Delaware Speedway but advanced to a fifth-place result. In the weekend's final event at Delaware, Hopkins finished second in his qualifier and started the feature in fifth. When the race began to unravel on lap 19, he avoided the trouble and finished third.
Perhaps the biggest beneficiary of the rescheduled round four was Steve McCaw. An accident on lap 18 of Friday's feature required a tow truck to remove the No. 4 1974 Chevrolet Camaro. McCaw and the crew used the extra day to make repairs. They must have succeeded as he started the feature on the pole. McCaw battled with Kenny McNicol until there was contact on lap 19. On the restart, he moved from the rear of the field to a fifth-place finish.
The top three finishers for round four of the 2024 JRS Auction OSCAAR Hot Rod feature presented by The Fyre Place and Patio Shop. On the right with the checkered flag and sweeping the weekend's races is Tyler Hawn, who can boast three victories in four starts. Beside Hawn is the runner-up, Rob Bromley. Bromley is second in the championship and ten points behind Hawn. The final spot is occupied by the third-place finisher, Matt Hopkins.
