The Toyo Tires F1600 Championship is an open-wheel racing series based in Ontario and sanctioned by the Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs - Ontario region.

The Toyo Tires F1600 Championship calendar consists of six weekends, with each event hosting three rounds.

  • May 17-19 - Victoria Day Speedfest - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
  • June 1-2 - SMP Cup - Shannonville Motorsport Park
  • June 14-16 - VARAC Vintage Grand Prix - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
  • July 27-28 - BARC Canadian Touring Trophy Races - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
  • August 17-18 - OSCC Summer Classic - Calabogie Motorsports Park
  • September 14-15 - BEMC Late Summer Trophy Races - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

The single-seater, open-wheel race cars in the championship are powered by one of two engine options - a four-cylinder, 1600-cc Ford engine or the 1.5-liter HPD Honda L15A7. Both motors produce approximately 120-horsepower. A mixture of European and North American chassis is used by competitors. Minimum vehicle weight is determined by the suspension design and ranges from 1050 to 1125-lbs. Teams are required to use a spec tire – the Toyo Proxes R888.

Drivers collect championship points in one of two groups.

  • F1600A - This category is for newer chassis’ built between 1995 and 2024. There are two engine options available the Ford or Honda.
  • F1600B - This group is for cars constructed before 1995. They are powered by the Ford engine.

The manufacture date for the individual car and not the model is used to determine the year split and whether a vehicle is categorized as F1600A or F1600B.

The final weekend of the 2024 Toyo Tires F1600 Championship was held during the BEMC Late Summer Trophy Races at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Drivers competed in three twenty-two-minute contests around the ten-turn 2.459-mile road course.

The first lap of Saturday afternoon's race and leading the field of twenty-three Toyo Tires F1600 competitors through Moss Corner is the No. 6 Britain West Motorsport Mygale SJ15 of the second fastest qualifier, Connor Clubine. Chasing Clubine is the pole-sitter, Antonio Costantino, driving the No. 3 Brian Graham Racing Piper DL7. Following the leaders are Stewart Ross in the No. 67 Mygale SJ12 and the No. 48 Van Diemen RF02 of Henderson Knox.
The 2024 Toyo Tires F1600 champion, Connor Clubine, topped the win column at BEMC's Late Summer Trophy Races; however, it wasn't easy. Antonio Constantino kept the driver of the No. 6 Britain West Motorsport Mygale SJ15 honest all weekend. Clubine qualified second for race one but swapped the lead several times with Constantino before winning. The next two rounds followed the same pattern before Clubine came out on top.
Antonio Constantino prevented Connor Clubine from sweeping every event this year. Driving the No. 3 Brian Graham Racing Piper DL7, Constantino was victorious at the BARC Canadian Touring Trophy Races. On the season's final weekend, it appeared that he may collect at least one more win.  Constanino started on the pole Saturday but finished 0.398-seconds behind Clubine. He led the next two rounds when Clubine passed him on the final lap.
The penultimate round of the season, and the pole-sitter, Conner Clubine, driving the No. 6 Britain West Motorsport Mygale SJ15, grabs the lead as the field funnels into Canadian Tire Motorsport Park's first turn. Slotting in behind Clubine is the other front-row starter, Antonio Costantino, in the No. 3 Brian Graham Racing Piper DL7. Behind the leaders are Stewart Ross in the No. 67 Mygale SJ12 and the No. 4 Brian Graham Racing Piper DL7 of Parker Gill.
Like Clubine, the 2024 Toyo Tires F1600 B class champion, Steve Bodrug, had an impressive season. On his way to the title, Bodrug earned ten class victories in fifteen starts. In the first contest at the BEMC Late Summer Trophy Races, he started on the class pole, went flag-to-flag for the F1600B win, and did the same Sunday morning. However, in the finale, Bodrug started behind Jason Sharpe and led before being repassed by Sharpe who took the victory.
Stewart Ross made his first season start the fourth weekend of the Championship. At the BARC Canadian Touring Trophy Races, he earned three fourth-place finishes driving the No. 67 Britain West Motorsport Mygale SJ12. Ross rejoined the series for the finale. He qualified fourth in race one and finished third. The following day, Ross started third but fell to fifth before capturing the final position on the rostrum. He ended 2024 with another third-place result.
A field of nineteen Toyo Tires F1600 drivers head towards Canadian Tire Motorsport Park's corner four for the season's final race. In first place is the pole-sitter, Antonio Costantino, driving the No. 3 Brian Graham Racing Piper DL7. Tucked in behind Costantino and barely visible is the winner of two rounds this weekend, Connor Clubine, in the No. 6 Britain West Motorsport Mygale SJ15. Chasing the pair is the No. 2 Piper DL7 of Calum Dunbar.
Jason Sharpe is another competitor who did not enter every Toyo Tires F1600 series round. He started his season at the VARAC Vintage Grand Prix, driving the No. 88 Britain West Motorsport Van Diemen RF90 in the F1600B category. Sharpe's best results entering the final weekend were a pair of thirds at Calabogie. However, he started and finished second in race one, followed by an eighth in class. In the final contest, Sharpe redeemed himself with a victory.
