2024 marks the tenth season of the very successful United Racing Series.

The 2024 APC United Late Model championship kicks off on the Victoria Day weekend at Sunset Speedway with a race called the Dayco 100. In early June, the teams make the first of two stops at Flamboro Speedway for the Spectra Premium 100. In the middle of June, the Peterborough 100 is held at Peterborough Speedway. On the Canada Day weekend, drivers compete at Delaware Speedway during the NTN BCA 100. The next race sees the championship make its final appearance at Flamboro Speedway for the London Recreational Racing 100. Then in early August teams compete at Sauble Speedway. Round seven, called the Stewart's / Kubota 200, will take place at Sunset Speedway. The penultimate event of 2024 is at Sauble Speedway and is titled the Stewart's / Kubota 100. Titles are determined on September 7th at Delaware Speedway in Castrol's Great Canadian 300.

The series rules remain unchanged from last season, with the cars constructed to specifications and controls common to most stock car series. The chassis is a tube frame covered with fiberglass bodies. A car can weigh as much as 2800-lbs depending on the engine choice. Crate motors from General Motors (GM 604 & GM 602) and Ford (347) are used in the series. Competitors use a spec tire from American Racer and Bilstein A2 shock absorbers to regulate expenses. There are also rules restricting the options for transmissions, ignition components, body material, brakes, etc.

To determine the starting order of the race, drivers participate in a qualifying session. The five fastest qualifiers selected starting positions one through five during a random draw. Before each race, the cars receive a technical inspection and are impounded until the start of the event.

A new restart procedure was introduced in 2023 by series officials for the APC United Late Model and Dayco Super Stock divisions called the 'choose rule.' On restarts, competitors are allowed to choose their lane. Their selection may be determined by the condition of the track, how many cars are ahead of them or the handling of their vehicle. If a driver changes their choice after the designated 'choose spot,' they must start from the rear of the field.

A special announcement for this season is the NTN BCA Bearings Triple Crown. Three marquee events, held at August 3rd at Sauble Speedway (150 laps), August 10th at Sunset Speedway (200 laps) and September 7th at Delaware Speedway (300 laps). The three-race mini-series has a prize fund of $15,000. First place pays $3,500, second $2,500, third $2,000 and fourth thru tenth $1,000.

The third race of the 2024 APC United Late Model Championship for Pro Late Models was held at 'Canada's Toughest 1/3 Mile', Peterborough Speedway. Drivers competed in the KOD Disposal 100 for one hundred laps around the 0.333-mile asphalt oval.

Nineteen competitors line up on Peterborough Speedway's front straightaway for the KOD Disposal 100. History repeats itself, and the top two starters in the previous round at Flamboro Speedway occupy the front row. On the pole is the No. 52 Pride Seeds / Vibrent Farms Ford Mustang of Jake Sheridan. On the outside of Sheridan is Connor Pritiko driving the No. 19 Domus Developments-sponsored Chevrolet Camaro.
Local favourite Dan McHattie grabbed his first APC United Late Model win at Peterborough Speedway in the KOD Disposal 100. Although he is familiar with the track, there was no reason to believe that he would be a threat to the series regulars after qualifying eighth. The No. 71 JJ Stewart Chrysler-sponsored Chevrolet Camaro driver moved forward and was in the lead by lap 30. Despite caution periods, he held on for the victory.
Blair Wickett became the new points leader with a runner-up finish Saturday night at Peterborough Speedway. Wickett collected third and fifth-place results in the season's first two rounds driving the No. 97 Ry-Matt Mini Storage Ford Mustang. He qualified and started the KOD Disposal 100 in the sixth position. At the mid-point of the contest, Wickett began his charge. He made his final pass for second on lap 87.
After the first two rounds, Jake Sheridan's third-place finish at Peterborough Speedway must have seemed like a victory. Contact and mechanical issues eliminated the No. 52 Pride Seeds / Vibrent Farms Ford Mustang from Sunset and Flamboro Speedway races. For the second consecutive event, Sheridan started on the pole and led until the eventual winner passed him, Dan McHattie. Unable to hold off Blair Wickett, he finished third.
Another driver creeping up the points table is the 2020 APC United Late Model Champion, Jo Lawrence. Lawrence struggled in qualifying at Sunset and Flamboro Speedways and collected fourth and fifth-place results. In qualifying at Peterborough Speedway, Lawrence was the fastest and started fifth in the No. 78 Elite Property Group Ford Fusion. He stayed in contention during the race and was rewarded with a fourth-place finish.
Rookie contender Connor Pritiko's APC United Late Model campaign has got off to a difficult start. After finishing eleventh in the season opener, he started round two at Flamboro Speedway on the front row. On lap 22 of the race, a suspension part broke on the No. 19 Domus Developments Chevrolet Camaro and caused him to ride the wall on two wheels. With repairs completed a week later, Pritiko finished fifth at Peterborough Speedway.
The points leader, Kyle Steckly, had a 'full plate' this weekend. In addition to Peterborough, he was racing at the ASA STARS National Tour in Milwaukee. A private plane was booked, which allowed him to commute between the two events. Steckly didn't arrive until just before the start of the race. Lane Zardo drove the car in practice and qualifying. Steckly was making good progress until there was contact on lap 36. He recovered and finished seventh.
The top three finishers of the KOD Disposal 100 at Peterborough Speedway. Standing in the center is Peterborough regular Dan McHattie, who scored his first APC United Late Model victory. On the left is the runner-up, Blair Wickett. The second-place result put Wickett two points ahead of the previous championship leader, Kyle Steckly. Rounding out the top three is Jake Sheridan, the driver of the No. 52 Pride Seeds / Vibrent Farms Ford Mustang.
