The Southern Ontario Sprints is a series of winged Sprint Cars.
These open-wheel tube frame vehicles have a high power-to-weight ratio and are limited to a fuel-injected 360-cu.in. V8 engine.
Strict rules only permit using steel blocks equipped with spec cylinder heads from General Motors, Ford or Mopar.
Even the intake ports are required to match specific gasket dimensions from Fel-Pro. The motor produces approximately 700 horsepower.
Power from the engine is transferred through an in-or-out gearbox.
As a result, the cars are not equipped with a starter motor and require a push to start.
The chassis rules are simple. They must be a four-post design and cannot use chassis or suspension cockpit adjustable devices. Brakes are limited to steel, aluminum or titanium rotors. Spec Hoosier Tires are mounted on eighteen-inch wide wheels on the right rear and left rear; wheels must not exceed fifteen inches. After a race, this competitive package must weigh no more than 1,500 pounds (with the driver and no fuel). The Southern Ontario Sprints schedule consists of twenty-two events at seven different venues. The season starts in April and ends in mid-October.
Rounds twelve and thirteen of the Southern Ontario Sprints series were held at Ohsweken Speedway as part of the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprints. On Monday and Tuesday evenings, drivers competed in one of two qualifying heats and, if necessary, a B-main to determine which drivers would start the feature. The final contest of the evening was twenty-five laps around the 0.375-mile dirt oval. Sit'N Bull Tire, the race sponsor, was giving the winner $10,000. Drivers were initially scheduled to compete on Tuesday evening; however, officials rescheduled the race for Wednesday when rain was forecasted for Tuesday.

After grabbing a victory in the first contest (Oakwood Action Transport Sprint Tour West) of the doubleheader event, Mike Bowman followed up with a win in the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak 360 Sprint Cars feature. When the series returned on Wednesday, he collected a second victory in the Crate and 360 Sprint Car divisions. He swept all four races, which earned him a total of $30,000 from Sit'N Bull Tire. |

Chasing Mike Bowman both evenings was Stewart Friesen. Friesen competes in the NASCAR Truck Series but has a wealth of experience racing on the dirt. He participates part-time in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. At Ohsweken Speedway, Friesen drove the No. 52 Glenn Styres Racing 360 Sprint Car. On Monday, he started the A-Main eleventh, finished second, and earned another runner-up result on Wednesday. |

The No. 17X Mobil 1 / Lone Wolf Fireworks 360 is driven by Cory Turner. Turner currently sits fifth in the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak standings with a record of four top-five and eight top-ten finishes. Turner started Monday's A-Main on the outside of the front row and led the first seven laps. Unable to maintain the pace of Mike Bowman and Stewart Friesen, he finished third. On Wednesday, Turner was fifth. |

American Matt Farnham towed from Tonawanda, New York, to participate in the doubleheader at Ohsweken Speedway. Farnham races the No. 7NY 360 Sprint Car with Brady Electric and Airport Collision backing. In Monday's A-Main, he finished in the fifth after starting in the fifteenth position. In the final contest of the event, Farnham passed eight competitors to finish in third place. |

Driving the No. 47X Nitro 54 Variety / true north.bet 360 Sprint Car is Dylan Westbrook. Westbrook is currently third in the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak point standings with two victories and leads the Southern Ontario Sprints. He started Monday's A-Main in the seventeenth spot and advanced thirteen places to finish fourth. In the event finale, Westbrook qualified at the rear of the field in twentieth and crossed the finish line in the ninth. |

Another championship contender is Liam Martin, who races the No. 9 Somner Tyne Insulation / Nitro 54 Variety 360 Sprint Car. Martin has one victory this season in the Kool Kidz-Corr/Pak Sprints. He opened the doubleheader with a nineteenth-place starting position in the feature and took the checkered flag in the seventh spot. On Wednesday, Martin fared much better, moving from ninth to a fourth-place result. |
