To celebrate their 50th year as owners of Flamboro Speedway brothers John and Frank Casale staged a special event.
A race was held on September 4, called the Pot of Gold 300. Enduro competitors would compete in a qualifying race to earn a spot in the final with an opportunity to win $50,000. Prize money was paid to the top-five finishers. Second place will receive $10,000, with $5,000 for third, $3,000 for fourth, and $2,000 for fifth. The field featured drivers with a wide range of experience and with a large number of cars on the 1/3-mile banked oval there were many incidents. After successfully completing lap 301 through the Tech Shed Cameron Pederson was declared the winner and awarded the $50,000 cheque. The remainder of the top five included the runner-up, Rodney Rutherford, in third Gillian Hils, followed by Jordan Willms and in fifth place Jo Lawrence. |
