Last season, arrangements were made for the popular Street Stock division to compete as a support event at three APC United Late Model Series rounds. Contests were conducted at Sauble Speedway, Sunset Speedway, with the finale taking place at Jukasa Motor Speedway.

In 2021, the class received backing from Qwick Wick Fire Starters for the inaugural five-race championship. The season kicks off on July 2nd at Delaware Speedway, followed by a race at Peterborough Speedway almost a month later. The third round of the series is held on the Labour Day Weekend at Flamboro Speedway during the London Recreational Racing 100. The penultimate event takes place at Sunset Speedway and is called the Saugeen Shores 50. The championship ends where it began at Delaware Speedway.

The Super Stock category includes a variety of makes and models from the ‘60s to the current year. The rules used in the class allow some suspension modifications and changes to the bodies. Most Street Stock cars retain the original steel bodies with plastic noses and fiberglass hoods. They are powered by a modified small-block engines or crate motors from General Motors and Ford. The division serves as a ‘stepping stone’ for those drivers who aspire to compete in the Pro Late Model category.

Round four of the 2021 Qwick Wick Super Stock Series was conducted at Sunset Speedway’s 1/3 mile banked asphalt oval. Drivers would compete in a fifty-lap contest with backing from Saugeen Shores Transmission.

Twenty-four Super Stock competitors line-up on the front straight at Sunset Speedway for the Saugeen Shores Transmission 50. After the series’ rules for gridding the starting order were implemented, Dennis Cybalski in the No. 10C NAPA Chevrolet Camaro was the pole-sitter. On the outside of Cybalski was the No. 73 Cadillac CTS of Nick Troback. The second row was occupied by Pete Vanderwyst and Paul Pepper.
Lane Zardo driving the No. 36 Ford Mustang developed mechanical issues in round one. However, the team rallied and his performance improved with each event. In the last outing, Zardo finished second. At Sunset Speedway, he was the fastest qualifier and started fifth. By lap-7, Zardo was in the top spot and despite pressure from Dwayne Baker, he finished first. But more important, he leads the championship.
Dwayne Baker entered round four at Sunset Speedway second in the title chase. During qualifying, Baker recorded the second-fastest time and was gridded in the eighth position for the start. He moved the No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro into the runner-up spot on lap-12 but could not make the pass on Lane Zardo. Baker finished just 0.031-seconds behind Zardo and held his position in the points standings.
Finishing third for the second consecutive Qwick Wick Super Stock Series event was Ethan Constable. Constable started in the sixth position after turning the sixth fastest time during qualifying. Issues for Pete Vanderwyst and passes on Nick Torback and Gerrit Tiemersma gave Constable the final spot on the podium. His consistency during the season has paid off, and Constable is fourth in the standings with one race remaining.
The Qwick Wick Super Stock series has not been kind to this year’s winners. Driving the No. 93 Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC sponsored Chevrolet Camaro, Carson Nagy was dominant earlier in the season at Peterborough Speedway and claimed the victory. However, Sunset Speedway proved to be very challenging. He started in the sixteenth position, but was involved in an incident on lap-12 and retired.
Trevor Collver was victorious in race one of the 2021 Qwick Wick Super Stock series, but it appeared that he was not immune to the back luck experienced by the other winners. He was twenty-fifth at Peterborough but collected an eighth-place finish at Flamboro Speedway. The No. 1 Inventory Express Chevrolet Camaro started eighteenth at Sunset, but Collver moved through the field and finished seventh.
Finishing fourth at Sunset Speedway was the winner from Flamboro Speedway, Gerrit Tiemersma. Like Lane Zardo, Tiermersma’s quest for the Qwick Wick Super Stock championship got off to a poor start. He was unable to finish race one at Delaware Speedway and was classified with a thirtieth place finish. Tiermersma’s result in race four came after qualifying third and starting in the seventh position.
Ray Morneau, Jr. entered round four of the Qwick Wick Super Stock series with the championship lead, just two markers ahead of Dwayne Baker. Unfortunately, Morneau’s visit to Sunset Speedway would be disappointing. During the time trials, he recorded the thirteenth quickest time. Morneau was never in contention during the fifty-lap contest and finished fifteenth. His results dropped him to third in the title chase.
