2009 was the second season of the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge, a professional racing series co-developed by Ford Racing and Miller Motorsports Park.
The series uses the new Ford Mustang FR500S and is sanctioned by Grand American Road Racing.
To attract teams, the series organizers provide a generous purse and schedule events to
support major professional road racing weekends across North America.
The Ford Mustang FR500S was co-developed by Ford Racing Technology and Miller Motorsports Park.
It is the first race car built by Ford Motor Company on a production line intended for sale to the public.
The FR500S features a 4.6-liter 3-valve production engine.
The Mustang is also fitted with various Ford Racing performance parts, such as a cold-air kit,
high-capacity radiator and two-way adjustable shock absorbers and springs.
All competitors must use BFGoodrich g-Force R1 tires.
The initial build was limited to seventy-seven units.
The FR500S is priced at $59,900 (US) and is delivered race-ready.

The start of round seven for the 2009 Ford Racing Mustang Challenge series at Mosport International Raceway.
Jumping into the lead is the No. 1 Kaufmann Racing Ford Mustang FR500S driven by the pole-sitter Andrew Caddell.
Beside Caddell is the other front-row qualifier Ted Anthony, Jr., in the No. 9 TC Motorsports Ford Mustang FR500S.
Behind the leaders are Tony Buffomante and Jason Von Kluge.

Tony Buffomante had some disappointing results early in the season and fell out of championship contention.
The team decided to take a couple of races off but returned for round seven.
Buffomante qualified third fastest in the No. 34 Team BRE Ford Mustang FR500S.
Contact between the leaders in corner two on lap-1 allowed Buffomante to grab first place.
He went flag-to-flag for the victory.

In qualifying, the points leader, Andrew Caddell, set a new lap record and felt the car would be even faster in the race.
As expected, he took first place into corner one, but Ted Anthony, Jr. pulled alongside Caddell when the leaders reached turn two.
There was contact and they slid off the track and fell to last.
Caddell started his charge to the front and on the final lap, he passed Jason Von Kluge for second place.

Like Tony Buffomante, Jason Von Kluge benefitted from the contact between the leaders Andrew Caddell and Ted Anthony, Jr.
Von Kluge qualified fourth fastest driving the No. 19 Green Filter USA Ford Mustang FR500S.
He chased the leader Buffomante for the next twenty-five-laps but was never close enough to challenge.
On the final circuit, Von Kluge was passed by Andrew Caddell and finished in the third spot.

The No. 4 Capaldi Racing prepared Ford Mustang FR500S was driven by Bryan Smith.
Smith was the sixth fastest during the qualifying session.
However, he moved up the race order after the incident between the race leaders on lap-1.
Towards the end of the event, Smith was back in sixth, but there was contact between Dan Aweida and Ted Anthony,
Jr. which allowed him to cross the finish line in the fourth position.
