All American Racers was founded in 1965 by Dan Gurney and Carroll Shelby with the backing of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.
The company designed and built 158 Eagle racing cars between 1965 and 2012.
Eagles competed in Formula One, Formula 5000, USAC, IMSA, Trans-Am, Can-Am and even Formula Ford.
In 1976, Gurney formed a partnership with the Earl M. Jorgensen Company, a nationwide distributor of steel and aluminum. The team competed in the USAC Championship Car and SCCA F5000 Series. The services of Duane Carter were used in USAC to drive a much modified 1975 Eagle, called the Jorgensen Eagle. Carter opened the season with a runner-up result at Phoenix International Raceway. He competed in eight of the thirteen rounds and finished twelfth in the final standings. However, he captured the 1976 USAC sprint car championship. Dan Gurney hired Vern Schuppan for the team’s F5000 program. In 1976, Schuppan won Australia’s Rothmans International Series for F5000 cars driving a Lola T332. In America, he drove the 1976 Jorgensen F5000 Eagle. Schuppan finished sixth in the final standings, with third place results at Pocono and Watkins Glen. He also competed in his first Indianapolis 500, where he finished eighteenth and won the Rookie of the Year award. Below is the content from the 1976 Jorgensen Eagle – Press Packet.
