In 2021, FEL (Franczak Enterprises Ltd.), an automotive learning and promotion company, expanded its presence in Canadian motorsports.

FEL saw an opportunity to revitalize and reinvest in Canadian car racing. FEL’s foray into the 2017 Toyo Tires F1600 Series as a featured sponsor resulted in fields growing from twelve to fifteen entries to over thirty cars in just three years.

The company is now making its mark in the Touring and Sports Racer categories. The FEL Motorsports Sports Car Championship Canada is for vehicles prepared to GT4, TCR and TCA specifications. Various models of the purpose-built Radical SR3 sports racers compete in the Emzone Radical Cup Canada.

Emzone Radical Cup Canada drivers compete in three contests each race weekend.

  • May 19-21 - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
  • July 14-16 - Honda Indy Toronto
  • August 19-20 - Calabogie Motorsport Park
  • September 1-3 - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

The Emzone Radical Cup Canada series cars are built by the British manufacturer, Radical Sportscars. The company was founded by Mick Hyde and Phil Abbott in 1997. The early vehicles were road legal but were more popular as race cars. The Radicals used in the series are the SR3 model powered by an RPE - Suzuki four-cylinder Double Overhead Camshaft engine with a displacement of 1340-cc, which produces 170-rear wheel horsepower. The chassis is a space frame design with double wishbones, coil springs, adjustable shock absorbers, and roll bars. Stopping the SR3 are four-piston calipers front and rear with vented rotors. The Radicals use cast aluminum wheels fitted with 200/580/R15 tires on the front and 265/605/R16 on the rear.

Rounds four, five and six of the 2023 FEL Emzone Radical Cup Canada, presented by Michelin, were conducted at Toronto's Exhibition Place during the Honda Indy Toronto weekend. Drivers would compete in three races around the eleven-turn 1.755-mile temporary street circuit.

Participating with the Emzone series at the Honda Indy Toronto event was the fifth weekend of the 2023 Bluemarble Radical Cup.

Gavin Sanders has competed in various series in the last couple of years. In 2020, he entered the Nissan Micra Cup and the following year, Sanders transitioned to the new Nissan Sentra Cup. 2022 saw him debut in the Sports Car Championship Canada in Toronto. Now he has turned his attention to the Emzone Radical Cup Canada. Sanders earned two wins at Toronto but was involved in an accident in the finale.
The defending Toyo Tires Formula 1600 champion, Jake Cowden, joined this year's Emzone Radical Cup Canada series and has adapted quickly. Cowden drives the No. 9 Racing for Kids Radical SR3 RSX. He swept the season opener at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. However, he was challenged by Gavin Sanders and Owen Clark in Toronto and collected three runner-up results. Cowden still maintains a comfortable points lead.
Former karter Connor Bell made his Emzone Radical Cup Canada debut at Toronto's Exhibition Place. Bell's primary focus this season is the Super Production Challenge, where he competes in the Production category. He is third in the standings driving a Toyota GT86. At Toronto, Bell drove the No. 15 RySpec prepared Radical SR3 XX. After third and fourth-place results, he lost a lap in the finale and finished seventh.
Kenny Riedmann is a former motorcycle racer who made his series debut last season. In his rookie year, Riedmann finished third in the standings. He returned in 2023 driving the No. 42 Riedmann Management Radical SR3 XX. Riedmann opened this year's campaign with three podium results. At Toronto, the competition was stiffer; the best he could do was third place. However, Riedmann remains second in the points.
Another Super Production Challenge driver competing at Toronto was Owen Clarke. Clarke races in the Super Production category and drives a Toyota GT86. After three weekends, he is second in the standings with two victories at Shannonville Motorsport Park. Clarke piloted the No. 70 Mr. Lube + Tires Radical SR3 XX at Toronto and earned two fifth-place results. He was awarded the win in the finale when the leader was penalized.
