In 2021, FEL (Franczak Enterprises Ltd.), an automotive learning and promotion company, expanded its presence in Canadian motorsports.

FEL saw an opportunity to revitalize and reinvest in Canadian car racing. FEL’s foray into the 2017 Toyo Tires F1600 Series as a featured sponsor resulted in fields growing from twelve to fifteen entries to over thirty cars in just three years.

The company is now making its mark in the Touring and Sports Racer categories. The FEL Motorsports Sports Car Championship Canada is for vehicles prepared to GT4, TCR and TCA specifications. Various models of the purpose-built Radical SR3 sports racers compete in the Emzone Radical Cup Canada.

Emzone Radical Cup Canada drivers compete in three contests each race weekend.

  • May 19-21 - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
  • July 14-16 - Honda Indy Toronto
  • August 19-20 - Calabogie Motorsport Park
  • September 1-3 - Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

The Emzone Radical Cup Canada series cars are built by the British manufacturer, Radical Sportscars. The company was founded by Mick Hyde and Phil Abbott in 1997. The early vehicles were road legal but were more popular as race cars. The Radicals used in the series are the SR3 model powered by an RPE - Suzuki four-cylinder Double Overhead Camshaft engine with a displacement of 1340-cc, which produces 170-rear wheel horsepower. The chassis is a space frame design with double wishbones, coil springs, adjustable shock absorbers, and roll bars. Stopping the SR3 are four-piston calipers front and rear with vented rotors. The Radicals use cast aluminum wheels fitted with 200/580/R15 tires on the front and 265/605/R16 on the rear.

The Emzone Radical Cup Canada opening rounds were held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park during the Castrol Victoria Day Speedfest. Drivers competed in three contests around the ten-turn 2.459-mile road course.

The start of round three, Sunday morning, for the 2023 Emzone Radical Cup Canada series. Nine competitors enter corner one at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for a forty-minute contest around the ten-turn 2.459-mile road course. At the front of the field is the pole-sitter, Jake Cowden, in the No. 9 Racing for Kids Radical SR3 RSX. Behind Cowden are the Radicals of Kenny Reidmann and Gavin Sanders.
The No. 9 Racing for Kids Radical SR3 RSX was driven by Jake Cowden. Cowden is following the same path as last year's Emzone Radical Cup champion, Jonathan Woolridge. He joins the series after a successful stint in the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship. Cowden swept the first three rounds at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, giving notice to the other competitors that he would be a championship contender.
Gavin Sanders is another driver showing great speed in the first three rounds of the Emzone Radical Cup Canada series. Sanders moved from karts to cars in 2019 and has succeeded in the Nissan Micra, Nissan Sentra and FEL Motorsports Sports Car Championship Canada series. In 2023, he drives the No. 10 Sanders Motorsport Radical SR3 RSX and collected two runner-up results and a DNF in the opening weekend.
Kenny Riedmann made his Emzone Radical Cup Canada debut last year. Unsurprisingly, by the end of the season, the three-time Canadian Sport Bike Champion was running at the front of the field. Riedmann pilots the No. 42 Riedmann Management Radical SR3 XX. He grabbed the final spot on the podium in the first two rounds. In the weekend's finale, Riedmann benefitted from Gavin Sanders' misfortune to finish second.
Yang Chen joined the Emzone Radical Cup Canada for his second competition season. Chen's best result last year was sixth place in the final race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. He drove the No. 30 Radical SR3 RSX with backing from YD Auto Group. In the wet conditions on Saturday morning, Chen finished fourth; however, in the afternoon, he was seventh. Chen ended the event with a third-place result.
