In 2021, FEL (Franczak Enterprises Ltd.), an automotive learning and promotion company, expanded its presence in Canadian motorsports.

FEL saw an opportunity to revitalize and reinvest in Canadian car racing. FEL’s foray into the 2017 Toyo Tires F1600 Series as a featured sponsor resulted in fields growing from twelve to fifteen entries to over thirty cars in just three years.

The company was now ready to make its mark in the Touring and Sports Racer categories. The new FEL Motorsports Sports Car Championship Canada is for vehicles prepared to GT4 and TCR specifications. Various models of the purpose-built Radical SR3 sports racers compete in the Emzone Radical Cup Canada.

Emzone Radical Cup Canada drivers compete in two forty-minute contests each race weekend.

The Emzone Radical Cup Canada series cars are built by the British manufacturer, Radical Sportscars. The company was founded by Mick Hyde and Phil Abbott in 1997. The early vehicles were road legal but were more popular as race cars. The Radicals used in the series are the SR3 model powered by an RPE - Suzuki four-cylinder Double Overhead Camshaft engine with a displacement of 1340-cc, which produces 170-rear wheel horsepower. The chassis is a space frame design with double wishbones, coil springs, adjustable shock absorbers, and roll bars. Stopping the SR3 are four-piston calipers front and rear with vented rotors. The Radicals use cast aluminum wheels fitted with 200/580/R15 tires on the front and 265/605/R16 on the rear.

The 2022 Emzone Radical Cup Canada final rounds were held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park during the CTMP Labour Day Sprints weekend. Drivers would compete in three forty-minute contests around the ten-turn 2.459-mile road course.

The second race of the weekend was held on Saturday afternoon. Leading the field of sixteen starters through Moss Corner on the opening lap is the pole-sitter, Jonathan Woolridge, in the No. 77 CJ Campbell / Emzone Radical SR3 RSX. Trailing Woolridge is Kenny Riedmann, the other front row starter, Robert Soroka driving the No. 007 Power Bus Way Radical SR3 XX and the No. 31 Radical of Matt Graham.
Jonathan Woolridge not only swept the CTMP Labour Day Sprints weekend but all other races counting towards the championship. His only loss came in the opening round. A severe storm moved into the area, causing property damage. The FEL Motorsports paddock was particularly hard hit. The Officials decided to go ahead with race one, but it would not count as a points event. Woolridge finished second.
Attempting to keep Jonathan Woolridge honest during the weekend was Kenny Riedmann. Reidmann piloted the No. 42 Riedmann Management Radical SR3 RSX. He qualified 0.545-seconds behind Woolridge for race one and finished in the runner-up position. The same scenario played out on Saturday afternoon, with Riedman finishing 12.827-seconds behind Woolridge. In the finale, he fell out of contention.
The final race of the 2022 Emzone Radical Cup Canada was held Sunday morning. As he has done multiple times the season, Jonathan Woolridge in the No. No. 77 CJ Campbell / Emzone Radical SR3 RSX started on the pole and grabbed the lead into corner one. Behind Woolridge is Tim Sanderson driving the No. 07 Radical SR3 RS and Woolridge’s main protagonist all weekend, Kenny Riedmann, in the No. 42 Radical.
The No. 007 Radical SR3 XX was raced by three drivers during the year – Robert Burgess, Kevin Poitras and Robert Soroka. Soroka, who competed on the final weekend of the Emzone Radical Cup Canada, was the most successful. With backing from Power Bus Way, Soroka qualified fourth for the weekend’s first contest and finished third. He collected another third-place in the afternoon and finished second on Sunday.
Daniel Ali’s performance improved throughout the weekend. The driver of the No. 32 Shopify sponsored Radical SR3 RSX prepared by TWOth Autosport was gridded thirteenth for the start of race one and moved up the order to finish seventh. Saturday afternoon, Ali captured a sixth-place result. In the final contest of the CTMP Labour Day Speedfest, he crossed the finish line in third place.
