The 2022 Action Sprint Tour fueled by Pinty’s is a championship for winged Sprint Cars.
These open-wheel tube frame Sprint Cars are powered by spec engines. Teams must use one of two GM Circle Track Crate Engines – part #88869602 or part #19258602. The motors are equipped with a Holley carburetor fitted on a 350-cu.in. V8 engines which produces 350 horsepower @ 5,400 rpm. The cars are not equipped with a starter motor and require a push to start. The chassis rules are simple. They must be a four-post design and cannot use chassis or suspension cockpit adjustable devices. Brakes are limited to steel or aluminum rotors. Spec Hoosier Tires are mounted on eighteen-inch wide wheels on the right rear and on the left rear; wheels must not exceed fifteen inches. After a race, this competitive package must weigh no less than 1,600 pounds (with the driver and no fuel). The 2022 Action Sprint Tour schedule consists of seventeen events at six tracks. The season starts in June and ends the first weekend of October.
Rounds five and six of the 2022 Action Sprint Tour fueled by Pinty’s were held at Ohsweken Speedway during the inaugural Pinty’s100 for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series. On Monday and Tuesday evenings, drivers competed in twenty-five-lap contests around the 0.375-mile dirt oval.

After four rounds of the 2022 Action Sprint Tour Series, Mike Bowman had collected A-Main victories at Humberstone and Merrittville. Rounds five and six at Ohsweken Speedway would belong to Bowman. In Monday’s feature, Bowman was gridded third but jumped into an early lead and despite a late race red flag, he was never challenged for the win. Bowman repeated this performance the next day for his second victory. |

Mike Bowman won the first of the two doubleheaders in a convincing fashion at Ohsweken Speedway. However, Darren Dryden was there to keep him honest on day two. Dryden drove the No. 12DD Action Sprint car with backing from Pudsey Pools & Landscapes and started the A Main in seventh. He ran with Bowman but wasn’t close enough to make the pass. Dryden also finished second on Monday but wasn’t as much of a threat. |

Similar to Mike Bowman, Jacob Dykstra had two A-Main wins in 2022. Dykstra, who was the reigning series champion, was gridded on the outside of the front row for Monday’s event. Like the runner-up, Darren Dryden, he could not match the pace of Bowman and finished in the third position. Dykstra split his time between the Action Sprints and Knights of Thunder and could not start Tuesday’s race. |

Brett Stratford’s visit to Ohsweken Speedway for the doubleheader event began on a high note. Stratford won the first heat race in the No. BS39 Action Sprint Tour prepared car. He was gridded in the seventh position for the A-Main and advanced to a fifth-place result. The next day, Stratford was fifth fastest in the second qualifying session. In the A-Main, he started tenth but was third at the checkered flag. |

Matt Billings made the trip from Brockville to compete in rounds five and six of the 2022 Action Sprint Tour. In his first trip to Ohsweken Speedway, round three this year, Billings finished second in the A-Main after starting fifteenth. On Monday, he finished second in the heat race four and collected a fourth-place in the A-Main. The following day Billings was gridded eighth for the feature but finished ninth. |

Title contender Lucas Smith was running fifth on Monday when he was involved in an incident with Joshua Hill. With a couple laps remaining, Hill spun in turn four and stopped. Smith arrived on the scene, making contact with Hill, causing extensive damage to the front of the No. 49L. Smith’s crew was able to repair the car and the next day, he started eleventh and charged up the race order for a fourth-place finish. |
