In 2021, FEL (Franczak Enterprises Ltd.), an automotive learning and promotion company, expanded its presence in Canadian motorsports.

FEL saw an opportunity to revitalize and reinvest in Canadian car racing. FEL’s foray into the 2017 Toyo Tires F1600 Series as a featured sponsor resulted in fields growing from twelve to fifteen entries to over thirty cars in just three years.

The company was now ready to make its mark in the Touring and Sports Racer categories. The new FEL Motorsports Sports Car Championship Canada is for vehicles prepared to GT4 and TCR specifications. Various models of the purpose-built Radical SR3 sports racers compete in the FEL Cup Canada.

Two classes are participating in the FEL Motorsports 2021 Sports Car Championship Canada presented by Michelin – Grand Touring 4 and Touring Car Canada.

  • Grand Touring 4 (GT4) – These cars are prepared to the SRO (Stephane Ratel Organisation) GT4 technical specifications. The quicker of the two groups, this class includes cars such as the Ford Mustang GT4, BMW M4 GT4, Mercedes-AMG, Audi R8 and Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport. Vehicles competing in this division produce between 400 - 450 horsepower and are capable of speeds over 175-mph.
  • Touring Car Canada (TCC) - This class is based on the global touring car category TCR. Vehicles racing in this group include the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR, Honda Civic TCR, Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR and Audi RS3 LMS TCR. They use a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine which will produce between 300 – 350-horsepower.

Each weekend consists of two forty-minute contests. The inaugural season kicks off in June at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park during the 41st VARAC Vintage Grand Prix. A month later, the series returns to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in conjunction with the BARC Canadian Touring Trophy Races. This event is followed by the championship’s only visit to Calabogie Motorsport Park. Then the series travels to Quebec to compete at ICAR Mirabel as part of the NASCAR weekend. Teams are in action again for their penultimate event, on the Labour Day Weekend, at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The Celebration of Motorsports at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park will be the series finale.

Rounds nine and ten of the FEL Motorsports Sports Car Championship Canada presented by Michelin were held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. During the weekend, drivers would compete in two forty minutes around the ten turn 2.459-mile road course.

The first lap through Moss Corner for round ten of the FEL Motorsports Sports Car Championship Canada. At the front of the field is the pole-sitter and GT4 points leader, Marco Signoretti, in the No. 22 Multimatic Motorsports Mustang GT4. Behind Signoretti in the No. 23 GT4 Mustang is his new teammate, Zachary Vanier. Following the leaders are ten Touring Car Canada class competitors.
With just two rounds remaining in the 2021 FEL Motorsports Sports Car Championship, Marco Signoretti has a perfect record of ten victories in ten starts. There was a chance that his streak may come to an end at the CTMP Labour Day Weekend Sprints as his team enlisted the services of Zahary Vanier. However, Signoretti topped the timesheets in practice and qualifying and notched up two more wins.
The points leader Travis Hill qualified on the Touring Car Canada pole for round nine at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. On the first lap of the race, Hill was passed by the second-fastest qualifier, Bob Attrell, but retook the spot on the seventh circuit to capture his fifth victory of the season. On Sunday, Hill started second in TCC and hounded the leader, Marco Cirone, but could not complete the pass and finished second.
Capturing the round ten Touring Car Canada class victory was Marco Cirone in the No. 82 Mark Motors Audi RS3 LMS. Cirone entered the series’ first weekend of racing and earned a pair of wins but didn’t return until the CTMP Labour Day event. On Saturday, he qualified and finished third in his category. In the finale, Cirone led flag-to-flag, despite pressure from Travis Hill and Bob Attrell.
Touring Car veteran, Bob Attrell, debuted his new Hyundai Elantra N in round one of the 2021 FEL Motorsports Sports Car Championship Canada. Although the Hyundai has been quick, Attrell has only collected one podium result. However, the car showed great speed as well as dependability in races nine and ten at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Attrell collected second and third place results.
Multimatic Motorsports entered a second GT4 Mustang at CTMP Labour Day Weekend Sprints. The No. 23 Mustang was piloted by Zachary Vanier. Vanier has many laps around Canadian Tire Motorsport Park driving in the F1600 and Touring Car categories. Last season, he won the Canadian Touring Car Championship for the TCR class. In rounds nine and ten, Vanier finished behind his teammate, Marco Signoretti.
