Founded in 1957, the Northern Alberta Sports Car Club (NASCC) organized its first sports car race on August 16, 1958, at the Edmonton International Airport. The club also conducts ice races, rallies and slaloms.

Sports car racing events are currently staged at Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway. This multi-purpose facility includes a fourteen-turn 2.7-kilometer road course.

The 2016 road racing season starts with a Race School.

  • April 30 – May 1 – Race School
  • June 4-5 – Race 1
  • July 23-24 – Race 2
  • August 27-28 – Race 3
  • September 24-25 – Race 4
  • October 1 – Tentative

Classes are set according to the Western Canada Motorsport Association.

  • SU – Super Unlimited
  • ST – Super Touring 1-3
  • PT – Performance Touring B-F
  • SM – Spec Miata
  • FL – Formula Libre
  • F1600 – Formula Ford 1600
  • FC – Formula Continental
  • FV – Formula Vee
  • SR – Sports Racing Cars

Race three on the Northern Alberta Sports Car Club schedule was held on the weekend of August 27-28. Drivers would race at Castrol Raceway on the fourteen-turn 2.7-kilometer road course. This would be a double points event.
