The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) held its third annual national championships at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on September 12-14, 2008. The event attracted competitors from all over the US and a field in excess of four-hundred race cars.

The car racing sanctioning body NASA was formed in 1991 to deliver racing events throughout the United States. NASA is dedicated to organizing motorsports activities that allow its members of race and street cars to experience the excitement of putting their vehicles on the race track in a safe and controlled environment.

Eight race groups were racing at the 2008 NASA Championships. Within each group, there can be several classes.

  • Group A: Factory Five Racing, , Camaro Mustang Challenge (CMC), CMC2, 944 Spec
  • Group B: American Iron (AI), American Iron Extreme (AIX)
  • Group C: Honda Challenge (HU-H5)
  • Group D: Performance Touring (PTA-PTB), Super Touring (ST1-ST2), Super Unlimited (SU)
  • Group E: 944 Cup/Super Cup, Spec Focus, Legends
  • Group F: Spec Miata
  • Group H: German Touring Series (GTS1-GTS5)
  • Group J: Performance Touring (PTC-PTF), Spec 30 (Spec E30)
